Hello everyone,
Just getting my feet wet here. I've been watching Bob's video's and think that this lifestyle is something that I would enjoy. I'm currently in an apartment, but will be getting an RV or van as soon as I am able. I would like to meet other people who have chosen this lifestyle. I'm looking for to meeting all of you. Thanks for taking the time to read my message, and I look forward to talking with you.

Welcome Cathy to the CRVL forums! To help you learn the ins and outs of these forums, this "Tips, Tricks and Rules" post lists some helpful information to get you started.

Most of our rules boil down to two simple over-riding principles: 1) What you post should provide good information (like your introductory post), and 2) Any response to someone else's post should make them feel glad they are part of this forum community.

Welcome to the CRVL Forums  :)

The month of August seems to be a good month for buying new vehicles according to consumer magazines.  For used they suggest October & November.

If you are interested in a used Fleet Van........

A lot of businesses sell off their delivery or service Vans when they reach 5 years of service where they have been written off after those years of tax depreciation as Capital Equipment.  This is when used car lots seem to have a bunch of used Service Vans sitting there.   Those used vehicle brokers buy these at auction in quantities when the fleets are sold off to make room for new vehicles as replacements.  But some times the medium sized companies sell them off directly to the public. If you keep your eyes open you may find a deal.   Often they put these on Craig's List.  Generally one of the company Salesreps attends to this. (this person may have been a car salesperson at one time)

These selloff's allow the company to purchase new Vans at large discounts, in quantity.   So their historic cost is rather low to start with and over 5 years they can take 1/5 the cost of the vehicle as a credit against their Taxes.
