Anyone have any advice?
Or any kind of recommendations for setting up the XJ Cherokee?
Hoping to spend the fall hangin out in the Rockys after trekkin to Magic Bus with a buddy in Alaska. Then hang out in slab city for the winter. Looking forward to meeting all of you wandering souls! Peace

If you're near 6 feet tall, the only comfortable way to sleep is to remove the rear seat cushion, fold down the seats*, and either remove the passenger seat or just move it as far forward as possible. You'll still have to sleep diagonally. It's not great but it'll keep you out of the elements. I'd recommend sleeping in it as little as possible.

For the rest of it, I'd get some roof racks and maybe a hitch basket. If you're not living in it, it's easy to set up as an expedition/camping style rig.

* I vaguely remember that maybe the seats in the four door don't fold down as cleanly as the two door so this might not work for you as well.

Hello and welcome. I will be starting an XJ project soon. There are a couple of older threads about living in/out of a Jeep XJ on here. I will be removing the rear seats as well as the passenger seat to create a long enough sleeping space. Also looking into a tent set up that attaches to the rear of the rig.

Thank goodness you clarified XJ Cherokee. Here I was thinking... what kind of person would want to live full time in a Jaguar ?? Wheew. :D :D
