New Renogy Solar Panel

Got an email yesterday from Renogy announcing their "new" 100 watt 12 VDC  monocrystalline, rigid solar panel. I haven't had a chance to compare the older panel with the new one in detail but at first cut is slightly smaller due to increased efficiency, has a black aluminum frame and thicker glass. The new panel is priced at $220. whereas the old one is selling for $150. Free shipping on both.

They are 7 inches shorter and 1 inch narrower.  1 1/2 lbs heavier.

I thought Solar panels were supposed to be getting less expensive over time?

When I bought my panels last year the seller mentioned that anyone that needed solar needed to buy it then because the tariffs were going to be hitting. Not just panels either. Panels, controllers, even the materials used in making them would cost more due to the tariffs.
