I'm from SW Michigan & just found believe it or not a Mint '93 Ford E-350 Ambulace, 6.7 IDI Diesel (last full year for them) with no computer, no rust, looks near new inside & out. All new tires & both batteries new this year, 88,000 actual miles owned by a small fire dept. It has a Horton alum body, heat & cool front & back, insulated, Great lights that dim, auto on lights in all the compartments, 165 amp Alt, built in comressor & Vacuum pump, everthing works all the stickers are gone with no sign left & the best part $2000. I drove it 200 miles home on cruise @ 75mph. It will be an very easy conversion. I called Horton & they sent  50+ page build sheets. I just can't get over the quality & condition. I have to call tuesday & findout what I need to make it a motorhome butit won't be much. Then a 30 mile trip to all the Indiana RV surplus stores & get the solar panels 50 cents awatt. I named it The Rambulance! Just thought I'd intro myself!  :D

Welcome! Awesome find... there’s some good ambulance van dweller vids on YouTube.

Very cool, grats! And what a great price!

Go say hello in the intro section of the forum, too. People check that a lot.

Cool! Do the sirens and lights work? I think it would be worth it just to have that little thingy that signals the traffic lights to change from red to green when you approach them (J/K).

Seriously though, sounds like a sweet find.

I wonder how many people died in it and if it's haunted?

^^^^^^

Equally interesting question - I wonder how many people have been in that ambulance and had their life saved? Must be some good vibes in there.

If you believe in that sorta stuff. I don't not believe it's possible. Lol.

Congratulations! It sounds awesome.

Thanks all! I don't even oewn a cell phone but will try to get someone to post pics. Can't believe no rust & in such fine shape with low miles. Going to tag it as a motorhome so I have to get the needed receipts for the things I add. Great to have too much starage. Thanks again for all the kind words.

I did buy a siren, emegeny light I can stash behind the seat as the controls are all there I just have to use the wires they cut. Also bought airhorns. Named it "Free Bird". Making a dry flush toilet with seperate urine disposal via the built in vacuum pump. Bought a 6 gallon foot pump shower & bought 2 LP catalytic heaters new old stock for $69/ea on ebay the night they had 15% off. 25 years old, looks like 1 or 2 years old. 88k miles, no rust, from a small Detroit suburb Fire Dept as ther 2nd unit as I called them & got all the info. Norton senf the 55 build sheets so I know where all the wiring goes. Got a roll down screen for the double rear doors & a walk thu screen for the side door.Nice to have to take out storage because I have too much. Absolutly everything works, heat & air in the front & back. found the altonater was replaced 2 years ago with a 250 amp. The 7.3 IDI diesel (last year before the DuraMax) is getting 16-17 mph on cruise at 75. Doing the interior with alum diamond plate & the floor with rubber diamond plate. Are you guys getting the idea I love this thing :)

Gr8ful I am confused the 7.3 is a Ford engine but a Duramax is a GM. highdesertranger

And if it is a ford I hate to tell ya but those are the trouble engines , I hope if it’s a ford it’s the power stroke.

no, these engines, the 6.9 and 7.3 IDI engines predate the powerstroke. being naturally aspirated they dont make as much power as the 7.3 powerstroke. but they are rock solid engines and with no computer systems you dont have to worry about some silly cam position sensor faulting and leaving you stranded...

now, the 6.0 powerstroke, there's an engine i wouldnt want to be gifted...
