For the past six years ive lived in a vehicle for approx 4 1/2 of those years.
At first me and my then wife financed one of those 100k ford sportsmobiles. definitely not worth that much though, so over priced. and wow, hard to stealth camp in something everones drooling over. lived in berkeley with that van for 3 solid years before moving to the sierra foothills. then i did something a bit nuts. i bought a toyota truck with a basic camper shell and worked ski patrol and lived on donner summit ( like 7000 ft ) for a whole winter. all i used was a sleeping bag and a couple blankets I continued to live in the truck the following summer in south lake tahoe which was perfect weather by the way. also lived in the truck in sacreamento while completing a fire academy, that was interesting. Now for the past while ive been living in my dream vehicle. A 4wd '89 toyota van wagon. i have a 156w solar pannel that keeps my aux battery charged and a nice little 1500w inverter. i just winged the solar system install and it works wonders.
So happy to see people living this life style. Ive done a lot more urban vandwelling than woodsy type. even though i wish i was in a forest all the time, im achored to a job write now for a while longer. Really want to do a workamper job in a remote off grid location at least once to experience it.
I actually rarely come across people who come out and say they think im nuts. Its usually a bit of wonderment. okay im done blabbing
