Hi there!

My name is Anne "Ditzy the clown" from Iowa.  I am hoping to retire this summer and head south in November.  Plan to go to RTR in January.  i am a huge dirt track race fan and know there are races in AZ for me to go to also.  I have a very serious financial day job and do the clown with balloons on the weekends.  My goal is to drop the day job, go south in the winters, and come back to Iowa for races and balloon gigs during the summer (to supplement my menial income on social security).

My son is concerned about my safety as a vandweller.  Therefore, I am looking for someone to either travel with or at least chat/text/video with for a while.  I need to learn the ropes so I can be as independent as I'd like.  I am not sure how the mentoring will work.  I can't expect anyone to drop their life and come travel with me, but hoping to make a connection here that will give me the support I need.  If anyone would like to try this, and is trustworthy, and dependable with references (lol), please get in touch with me.  This is not a paying job, just looking for some support.  As I will offer someone after I have learned the ways of this life.

I want to thank Bob for all he has done for so many.  I have seen the videos and learning all the time from them.  I am inspired by his wisdom and empowered by his words.  Thank you, Bob!!

Bless us all on our journey.......

Anne - the gypsy ditzy :)

Great post. I'm sure you will have no trouble finding a mentor! There will be others out there like you (me!) and we can offer support and friendship as well. My departure has been delayed though, due to issues with my rig.

I'd be more of a tormentor, I'm sure!  LOL!  Welcome to the forum nonetheless!
I'm probably not the best source of info on this, but there are number of groups that travel together all over.  The members seem to ebb and flow when and where they want, connecting and disconnecting as interests and direction match ... check out YouTube.  They typically post their whereabouts ... also, there's an RTArt group that my daughter and I are hoping to connect with in the next few weeks ... they are on Facebook at

https://www.facebook.com/groups/1497291407244309/

You'll have to message the group's organizer to get access to the posts inside ...

I'm sure you get more feedback in this tread as well ...

Again, Welcome "Ditzy" LOL!  :)

Welcome Anne to the CRVL forums! To help you learn the ins and outs of these forums, this "Tips & Tricks" post lists some helpful information to get you started. We look forward to hearing more from you. highdesertranger

Hi Anne and welcome. Best of luck in finding a mentor. There's a lot of help here, don't be afraid to put yourself out there with PMing members here. They may not all reply, or replies may be quite delayed(sometimes me lol), but it's a great way to start the get to know someone. Again, best of luck with everything!

Welcome Anne. I've met some clowns in my time. Haha - I'm a yungin' but the way I talk makes me sound old - so says my friend. My time hahaha. Anyhow. The world is dark and dangerous but Bilbo had a thirst for adventure, he just needed a little nudge out the door. Perhaps you don't have a party of dwarves at your side but there are more kind people in the world than nasty ones. Learn as much as you can. Take a self defense course. Safety is about knowledge and awareness. Know the risks and they shall not rule your life. Children always worry about their parents, parents are always afraid for their children. But what are we afraid of really? We are afraid because we love and we are afraid to loose what we love. There are many wonderful adventurers all around this forum and perhaps they will be your dwarves.

Good for you!
Have you considered keeping that day job as you adjust to life on tires?
Hang on to that income to make sure you have everything set up the way you want before you cut the cord?
Even sleeping in your driveway for a month will teach you a great deal.
A mentor will be a great help...but you are going to have to actually make the transition to see what works in your specific case.
Best of luck to you!
