Hi everyone. In December the plan is to retire and go full time RVing.... Watching all the You Tube videos convinced me to give a a try as a 63 year old guy. This probably isnt the right place for this question but here goes... I saw a Ford Transit Class C, 20 foot that looked really nice. There are two things I need to know. The bottom of the exhaust pipe is only 11"  off the ground. Also need to tow a Ford Focus with a curb weight of 2500 lbs. Plan to boondock  on BLM land etc most of the time. So is the clearance good enough for off road areas? Is it strong enough to safely tow a Focus?

Randy, yes the transit can do BLM  land and is rated to tow 5,100lbs have done the RTR on BLM  land in my transit plus many other venues,  just use common sense and your Wil be fine.

11" of clearance is actually very good. Just make sure you have your hitch for your tow vehicle professionally installed so that a) all of your toad (towed) vehicle electronics work correctly and b) the hitch is properly tied into the frame of your Transit van. I only say this because I've recently seen some horrendous DIY mistakes that ended badly....so now I say this to everyone! I think you'll really enjoy the combination you've chosen. Enjoy the ride!
