Hello, just wanted to check in here. I'm new here and hoping to learn a bit. Just quit my job, hit a wall one day and couldn't go on. It's over for me there which is absolutely insane. Good job, good money, good people. Just couldn't do it anymore. I feel like I'm letting some people down but I have to do me so........here we go!
I plan to do some van dwelling for at least 3 months. I lived in a van locally for almost a year once but never made it outward. Just locally, so now I think it's time to really experience van dwelling in a way that is a true Adventure. I'm hoping to regain my health that was lost to the job, I'm hoping to meet and make new friends, and I'm hoping for an awesome experience. I have enough funds to last at least 3 months so I am looking at getting work wherever I land. This is crazy. Life is crazy. Go with it.

Hi Jason and welcome! I look forward to hearing about your journey. Nothing is worth losing your health. Best wishes.

Welcome to the CRVL forums, Jason! Wow! Your jumping in, with both feet. 3 months of living expenses is a decent beginning. Will you have an emergency fund on top of that?

To help you learn the ins and outs of these forums, this "Tips & Tricks" post lists some helpful information to get you started. We look forward to hearing more from you.

Hi, Jason, and welcome!

You did not mention your age or what type of work you will be seeking. My first thought was to direct you to Becky's blog at:

http://www.interstellarorchard.com/

She is not close to retirement age, so she works at Amazon and national parks seasonally -- all the while living in her Casita. She has just posted her expenses and income report for last year. You might find that helpful as a general guide.

The Money threads here on this forum will also give you tons of info. And, it seems it is hiring season for many parks and tourist-related businesses, so you can pick where you'd like to go and perhaps find a job for the summer if you act quickly.

Tell us about your rig and keep us posted!

I envy you. Go out and meet this great nation. Ask for work. Seek, speak, drive and you shall find. I'm sure you can do it. Wake before dawn and make a plan before everyone else.

Good luck to you.
Mike

Best of luck to you in your travels!  Your health is worth far more than helping out your co workers.  The  good people will understand.

Keep us updated and let us know more about your rig.

Wow you guys and gals are really motivating. I can't tell you how much I appreciate it right now. I'm on a bit of an island right now.
I have all of Feb to figure out the details. As far a vehicle, wouldn't consider it a rig. I have lived in a van, by choice, just to do it a few years ago so I'm not weary of it. But my plan is just a basic family van, hope to find an inexpensive house battery set up, I don't need much. Rip out seats, put in a bed, black out windows. As I said I am looking for a 3 month get away where the primary focus is getting back to the me that I liked. Before life got in the way and turned me into someone I'm not proud of or really like. 3 months. That's all I need.
I would ideally like to find somewhere warm, inexpensive or free, gotta have Trails or something for running or biking, water or a shower would be nice but if reasonably close to re-supply town it's not necessary. So if you have a good idea let me know!
WriterMS, I checked out Becky's blog. Looks like a lot of info! Great! Thank You!
Like I said, any and all ideas or info or suggestions you guys have is falling on wide open ears. Thanks for motivating a lost soul trying to find himself again!

Welcome Jason!! I am a Newbie here as well and have found everyone to be AMAZINGLY awesome and helpful!! Congrats on making the decision! I just know that everything is going to work out GREAT for you!! :) Especially getting your health back!

Jason,
Several folks from this forum.. including Bob, I think... are in the Ehrenburg, AZ, area. It is a neat desert area with amenities including showers and water in the little town. The camping is free. If you do a search on the forum for Ehrenburg, I'm sure you'll find a fairly recent (past month?) thread with a map of where folks are likely cemped. Or email Bob if he doesn't visit soon and leave you a note here himself.
