I must have been asleep but headlights and taillights have really become powerful in recent years with the advancement of LED technology.

Today I bought a Bontrager Ion2 headlamp and Flare 3 tail light. The taillight can be seen for close to a mile. This should make biking a lot more fun (and safer)...

This weekend I plan to put the van in the campground and commute back and forth to town by bike (6 miles each way). Good lights are a necessity. They ain't cheap - about $65 for the pair, but definitely helpful. I plan to carry the headlight in my pack since it was expensive and detaches in a couple of seconds...

One other thought - this light would be very useful when hiking close to dusk. It's extremely bright yet compact.

Anyone else using the Bontrager lights on his/her bike? Or something similar?

V.T.
