Meats and especially veggies I would not trust. The quality on the shelves is so hugely variable. Heck, how many hundreds of times have I come to a display where, for example, EVERY onion had started going soft? Or every big package of oranges had bruised or moldy oranges? Every piece of beef was going brown and some had questionable smells? Etc etc etc.

For canned goods, okay. But not for anything where freshness matters. Even in, say, something like a cheese or bread section, you can see expiration dates that are days, or sometimes a week or even more apart.

... What about those who LIVE at Walmarts .....?

So along this line of thinking, for an acceptable food option, I've use an app successfully about once a month when I'm in unfamiliar towns to get veggie/meat delivered to my door when parked at walmarts. It's pizza hut. :D

Sadly, I've become sort of housebound. I'm very grateful that I found Safeway delivery service about 4 years ago and tried it at the time, and used it a few times since, always with great success (Tucson AZ)
They have 2 ways I think, either via Safeway online, or instacart, which I believe but do not know, is more expensive. Online has a markup, too, over shelf price, but some control over delivery times and costs, and their faqs say the drivers cannot accept tips. I do plan to use it going forward. All items, including produce and meats have been appropriate. One order came with 9 of 18 eggs broken. I called the 800#, customer service eliminated my cost for the entire package of eggs.

I haven't tried Kroger (Fry's) clicklist yet--they gather the items, the buyer picks it up at a clicklist location.
Haven't tried walmarts, either.

I did use costco's and was not particularly happy, due to both (seemingly large) product price increase over shelf price and instacart seeming requirement for driver tip. The items were satisfactory. I won't be in a hurry to use it again, the prices were, I felt, too high.
