I have a 2004 Ford e250 high top and when I am parked, with e brake on, my van sways when I walk it it. The van is on level ground.
All I have in it is a twin mattress and a small amount of clothes.

There are little bounces & it sways left to right as I move around. Is this normal?

Do the shocks need replacing?  What else should I do to improve the suspension?

( 199K miles. The van was a wheel chair lift van with a heavy duty floor.)

I would definitely have your shocks and springs inspected, especially since it is a E250.

if the van is rocking, don't bother knocking. haha. seriously it's perfectly normal. you could cut it down by putting off road shocks on it. KYB or Bilstein are two excellent shocks. highdesertranger

Or install stabilizers like RVs, some are rock steady

Thanks folks, I will check the shocks but it's probably normal, I am pretty heavy and the sway is minimal. Unless the shocks are new, I most likely will get KYBor Bilstiens. I've never had such a large van.
Thank you

Patient: "Hey, Doc, it hurts when I do this..."

Doctor: "Well, don't do that."

:D

Seriously, if the shocks and/or springs are so worn that it's moving around quite a bit just from you, it must have a pretty bouncy ride!

If it rides OK on the road, it is probably normal.
