After asking about more than one van here on the forum, I finally settled on a 1995 Chevy G20 with a 350 and 4 spd automatic. See the AD here before they take it down.
http://lasvegas.craigslist.org/cto/3338650934.html
This van rides and drive solid. I think I did OK, and my friend thinks I did better than OK.
What do you guys think?
-Bruce

They already took it down. Oh well.

YES, That's it! Thanks Tammi. I think they forgot about this earlier AD.
I'm glad you found it because I wanted to show it off here.
Edit, That's the latest AD. I don't know what happened, but I'm glad it did.
-Bruce

@ Ricekila, I don't remember. I looked at as many as I could.
Thanks guys. I just took it on a 240 mile road trip/shake down cruise. It got 16 mpg. I was hoping for better, but I was talking to a friend that has a later model Tahoe with the 350, and she said she gets 12 to 13 mpg, so I guess it's not that bad.
PS, It ran flawlessly. Didn't miss a beat. Oh, and it didn't use any oil either.
The folks I bought it from didn't know if the cruise control worked. The guy said he drove it to LA numerous times without using it so I assumed that meant it didn't. Once I got on the open road, I figured I had to at least try it anyway. It worked like a champ. Locked on and held steady.
I'm hoping I lucked out.
-Bruce

Looks awesome! I really wish mine had cruise....and more comfortable seats But it was meant to be a work van.
There are definite advantages to a windowless work van. For one thing I would think it would be far easier to insulate & panel the interior. Then it would be just a matter of arranging things you where you want them. I would think a windowless van would be less vulnerable.
I got a couple more images before they are no longer available.
-Bruce
Drivers side.

A shot of the interior. PS, The blanket was not covering any rips, tears, or other evils.
Looks Great, i think 16 mpg on a Full size van is pretty good mileage.
Thanks, I drove it very conservatively. One of these days I'm going to drive it briskly to both see how it runs, and see what that does to the fuel economy.
-Bruce

Sixteen mpg is about what I get when not pulling anything with my 1994 GMC Vandura 2500. Worst, with air on and trailer behind (any trailer behind, it seems -- no difference to size or weight -- is 11). Enjoy! and, before you get started with your plans, take a look at the many variants visible on the sidebars and other facets of this great blog-site.

Happy travelin' from sea to wind-swept mountaintops.
