I'm confused, and certainly no expert! re: PMS
Are you referring to premenstrual syndrome or post menopausal syndrome?

Funny thing is, with a little internet searching, I found some interesting suggestions to help alleviate the latter....To wit:
"To help minimize symptoms, other suggested lifestyle changes include increasing exercise, eating more fruits and vegetables, minimizing stress and limiting alcohol intake."
Now the 18th amendment grants you some cover, regardless. Moderation of course. Cheers!

Best wishes.
I digress...

Aunt Meg,
+1
"guess i'm dumb then. i didn't even see the pun until it was pointed out LOL
don't think anything was meant by it. a very gracious gift we can give ourselves, is the ability to laugh in the mirror.."

My thoughts, exactly! Well put.
<reflecting on this now>

OSO

Propane has less energy per gallon than gas, but it tends to be cheaper (no road tax) so it may or may not be cheaper to use on a generator. Propane conversions are popular on 5th wheels that already have propane for other things.

Rendezvous along I55 in the great state of Mizzsippi.
i guarantee to do nearly all the work and leave you smiling and with a full tank of gas.
it's a great deal you bet

Nobody said anything about menopausal men.....do we get to be bitchy, etc.....I know I have hot flashes something awfullll.....

I am on a drug for prostate cancer that reduces my testosterone production and I HATE the side-effects....but I will always commiserate with my sisters and the crap they have to go through...
Bri

Equal rights for menopausal men! You bet We 2 legged space heaters must stick together :)

On topic - my Honda is still running like a top and I'm a very happy camper!

Thanks for sharing, I've been debating on spending the big bucks on that very model. If you try the propane conversion, I'd love to hear the results. Note to self: don't ask Cheri out for a while. Hey, at least you can appreciate these men, they're basically saying they think you're attractive, and nice!

The yamaha is designed to run the carb dry without having to run the tank out. (wouldn't this solve the gas issue?) Reliability and performance is supposed to be on par with honda and its like $100 cheaper. Tri fuel kits are equally abundant for honda and yamaha.

Guy, I very much appreciate the men and shared a post on my FB page, where I'm chronicling my adventure, encouraging single friends to forget about online dating sites, singles bars, etc and meet the great guys out there in their everyday life.

bee - I've read great things about the Yamaha as well. I picked up some more fuel additive specifically geared toward small engines and ethanol issues. Will test as soon as I run out of the ethanol free gas in my cans now. If I run into more problems, I hope I've learned enough from this experience to remedy the issue myself and forgo the repair shops.

how did all this pms stuff get into a thread about honda gen sets. btw i want one of those honda's 2,000. highdesertranger

I was tempted to unleash my hormonal side out of frustration but I restrained myself
Loving the gennie now that the gas issue is worked out - go for it highdesertranger!

@OP

try using aspan 2stroke fuel, you wont need to buy extra additives and it smells kinda nice.

2 cycle fuel in a 4 cycle. only in an emergency. guaranteed fouled plug. highdesertranger

I have owned two 2000i's for 6 years. You cannot depend on them to start when they are cold but they are great little machines. I also have a 1000i. In the cold of winter I have to keep mine inside with the vent closed otherwise it may not start. The Hondas also build up condensation/water IN THEIR FUEL when used in the cold. I don't mean to scare you. I love my Hondas, you just have to learn their little tricks. One of my 2000i is installed in my van. Buy the extended run kit and a boat tank and you will have power 2 days at a time. You can also buy the exhaust kit for mounting it in a vehicle. Read all you can about your new Honda.

Have FUN.

VanGirl

This has been a very useful (and then again, somewhat entertaining) thread.

I've been using a Honda generator for a year. Being an Iowan (where we subsidize corn farmers and ethanol is cheaper), I forgot and put 10% ethanol blended gas in the Honda (adding a little Seafoam). It sat unused for a while (cause the solar panel was doing it's thing) The generator quickly plugged up. It surged, died, surged, died, surged, died, etc.

I tore apart the carburetor and cleaned it a couple of times. Since then, I've been running Amoco Ultimate (I mean BP Gold) and never did put in any Seafoam (forgot)... The generator hadn't been started for a month and was sitting in a cold garage. It took three pulls and fired right off! You really get what you pay for when it comes to gas... especially if you're like me and don't put a lot of hours on your generator.

I'll never put ethanol in the genny again. Until I read this thread I'd forgotten that the gas that caused the problem was the ethanol stuff I snitched out of Dad's gas can. Now I wonder if it is part of the problem with Dad's lawnmower... uggg... more work.

Brad

Thanks for the cautionary tale. I just bought the same generator last Oct. Just used it to recharge my truck battery and it ran s little rough because it sat unused for so long. I hear that fuel does terrible things to vehicles too. Another great idea from our government!

Ethanol has been the scourge of a lot of Outdoor Power Equipment. Things that sit a lot in between uses.

Gasahol's shelf life is much shorter than gasoline, and if enough condensation has combined with the alcohol in the tank then Phase separation can happen, which is like an unburnable sludge in the tank that causes all sorts of havoc when drawn toward the carb/injectors.

SeaFoam is something like 50% Isopropyl rubbing alcohol and 35% pale oil with some Naptha thrown in, so adding even more alcohol to the gasahol in the tank is kind of questionable. The pale oil and some other proprietary ingredients are probably responsible for the "stabilization" claims.

Some claim that TCW-3 ashless 2 stroke motor oil (2 oz per 10 gallons) in the gasohol helps stabilize the fuel, and also acts like an upper cylinder lube which also keeps carbon build up to a minimum.

Some Claim Marvel Mystery oil at 4 oz per 10 gallons does the same thing.

My old man sent his Honda 3000 watt inverter generator to have the carb rebuilt as it would only run with the choke on, and surge otherwise. He does not exercise it enough, and the fuel is too old, but after the one experience with the gummed up carb, he goes out of his way to find real gasoline, not the gasahol forced upon the nation. He also turns off the fuel and lets the engine die, and for longer periods of storage drains the fuel from the carb.

Regular fuel system cleaners with the ingredient PEA(Poly ether amine) are said to be the most effective at their assigned task. PEA was developed by Chevron and is trademarked Techron. It cleans without leaving any of its own residue when added to fuel.

Redline SL-l, techron, CRC Guaranteed to Pass, and Gumout Regane, among a few others contain a good amount of PEA. None of these claim fuel stabilization to my knowledge.

I have done the Seafoam thing through a vaccuum hose for a smoke show out the tail pipe, and have noticed smoother Idle afterward in the past, but will no longer do it, as I fear for my O2 sensor.

If I want to decarbonize the pistons crowns and intake valves in the future I will do a water decarbonization, by spraying a fine mist of distilled water into the throttle body with the full temperature engine running.

For those who like the Honda products but cant or dont want to spend the large amount these gens cost try ebay and look for a ramsond generators,,, I bought a 3000 watt unit which has almost the same specs , including the db's
But cost a lot less as I bought mine for 688.00,, the last I checked they had gone up alittle but still cheaper by a mile and the kicker is its powerd by a honda motor,, ummm!,, the same motor!
Its also a true sien wave gen, ele and pull start, has an 8amp 12 charging plug with power clips a 30 amp outlet and two regular 110 ac outlets
Search Randsom products,, they make all kinds of ele products including inverters and a 1000 w and 2000w gen models,, check them out
It will run my whole camper van with 13.000btu a/c,, I searched for 6 months comparing honda, yamaha etc! And the specs were just as good,,, the only thing I wonder about is if the honda lpg conversion will fit my gen as hondas 3000w gen is kind of square and the 3000w Randsom is built more like the honda 2000w
I've used mine to run the camper van and power tools while doing my cargo trailer conversion and its been bullet proof. At 1/3 of the cost!
