Howardsell2000, If you really love him and can't be around electrical hookup or find doggy day care, give him up. You can leave windows cracked and run fans until the cows come home, but it's still going to miserable in that van and it is going to kill him, especially if you end up in Florida as you plan.
Yes, we do have our dog with us. But we are retired and are usually hooked to air conditioning. He spends most of his time with us and we regilarly use kennels for daycare if we are going to be gone for hours without him. I am not sure how much he likes being left, but he is safe and we feel good about that.

Speaking of heat, dogs can get into trouble even outside. I had chores this morning, when I usually take Whiz for his daily long walk, and ended up going in the 90 degree heat of the day. He was crazy to get out and I am just crazy. We walked to the field. The prairie dogs were out feeding. He chased them like mad for about half an hour, then flopped under a tree with his eyes closed, panting, and would not move. Heat exhaustion.
I finally picked him up and carried him halfway home, which just about gave me heat exhaustion. A man working on his house brought him water and let us sit in the shade until Whiz was could make it on his own. From now on, I am carrying water for him, even we are only going to be out for only an hour.
