Oh, yeah! I remember. Back in 1995 using a primitive cell phone and my laptop, my connections were dropped 90% of the time but I felt oh, so victorious, when I was able to get and send my email! :)

LOL, I didn't have a phone for a lot of years. Got a simple cell in '06. Got 1st computer in '07. Android cell was fun, but I'm sorta looking forward to having a hotspot anytime I want it. I used to burn up 7-8Gigs on Sprint unlimited each month and never throttled, so 20Gs would supply lots of entertainment.

Back in 1995, I would have never dreamed that one day a phone (smartphone) could provide wifi hotspot to emit a wireless internet signal for multiple devices at fast speed. That would have been total science fiction. I would have happily plunked down $100 a month back then!

Yes, I too felt victorious for the simple ability to be able to send and receive emails on a mobile device while away from home :p But as email technology improved and "push" email came out, I quickly adopted that, even though it sometimes cost extra. The ability for an email app to "push" emails to you (meaning to receive emails almost instantly without having to press the "get new emails" or a refresh button) was simply amazing! :D Not only did I feel victorious, but I also felt superior for having push email capability when some others didn't, haha!:rolleyes::)

I'm looking forward to the day when we can strap on a helmet between a man and woman and have virtual s@x that simulates the real thing, but without the messiness. I seem to recall a scene from a movie showing this scenario starring Sylvester Stallone, but don't remember the movie. I digress, I know. :D:p

I'd have never dreamed I'd be able to hold a small computer in my palm that made calls and showed movies. The space age is pretty cool sometimes.

Wait until the net neutrality stuff is out the window. Then they can start throttling you based on site and content. Pay extra for that youtube package if you want more than 56k.....

At&t has already submitted patents for the tech to do it

Casey, the woman was Sandra Bullock, and the movie was Demolition Man.

Now back to the scheduled topic.

If you don't need 20 gigs of data, AIO wireless sells a 7 gig cell plan and they allow tethering. They also just merged with cricket that offers a 10 gig plan, but not sure if that plan will still be around with the merger.

AIO is an AT&T thing. Travelers have sung sad songs about AT&T service for quite a while. From what I see Verizon is the best coverage overall.

Here's the link about Cricket and AIO crawling in bed with AT&T...

It depends where you go.. On the east coast I never had any issues and had coverage pretty much everywhere with maybe a random loss here or there in the middle of nowhere.

I'm in Texas now and I've also had very little issues outside of padre island where there is zero coverage of any kind and a random spot on the Colorado river near Austin that I was losing connection down by the dam of lake Travis.

Maybe it will be worse further west but so far it's been workable.

I was just looking at ATT and its 50. for 5GB so its not bad for light use........guess I got spoiled with milinicom

Mine is their original pro account which is 7 gigs @ $65/month and I can add additional gigs @ 10 per gig. Granted that also includes unlimited phone/texting so it's not just data to compare with the 20 gigs from millen

It works out ok, but of course is rather have more data, i can watch the occasional video and so forth with out hosing all my data and I just keep the netflix and so on for wifi locations.
