smoke is never good, black=gas, white=oil burning or antifreeze. thats a big puddle underneath. if you do the tranny get the kit with the black gasket much better quality then the cork. if you have brake fluid leaking fix that first. remember stopping is more important than going. you don't even need a motor to go just go to the top of a grade and give her a push she'll go, but stopping is another matter. good brakes is the most important system on any vehicle. i can't stress this enough. highdesertranger

The brakes are a slow leak. No worries there, I'll fix them as soon as I can
The transmission is a pretty bad leak and a major concern as I'll be living in
The RV full time, and have to move daily as I'm in an urban environment and the city freaks out about those kind of leaks... also transmission fluid is stupidly expensive these days... as for the smoke it's in the video and really only does it when it's just started.
If the formatting is off on this post it's cuz I did it on my cell phone

Hey man, sometimes the fill tube o-ring is leaking on transmissions and it looks like a pan leak. Check that first. good luck.

You're getting so much good advice on this I hesitate to toss anything else into the mix. From the position you took the video it appears the rear seal on the tranny might be the problem, which happens frequently enough to satisfy most normal purposes. If it is, you ought to be able to isolate that as the source with some ease.

After listening to it run several times through the video I'm inclined to think you still have some engine issues besides what you've already concluded.

A person in your situation might want to crank it up at night with the interior lights off and have a look at the sparks running up and down the plug wires, provided they're doing it.

But that same person might want to go to a pay car wash and clean as much oil and grease off the whole engine as he could get to. Maybe wear old clothes, lie down beside the truck and reach the spray head as close to the tranny as he could get it from both sides and wash it down, too. Might give you a better idea of where the leak is.

Those rear seals can be copious leaks and you appear to have a copious leak.

Afterthought: For what it's worth, I bought a car with a leaking master cylinder once. Seemed to still work okay, just leaked. Back in those days a master cylinder could be rebuilt just by replacing 0-rings, and I figured I'd get around to doing it before a lot of time passed. But rebuilding the master cylinder involved bleeding all the brakes afterward, so I rocked along putting it off until I could spend the extra time bleeding the air out of the lines would take.

Rocked along, I should have said, until I came to an unexpected red light and had to stomp on the brake pedal when the car in front of me stopped. The pedal caught, then mooshed out of existance while I crashed almost full speed into the folks stopped ahead of me.

But that was a long time ago. Maybe master cylinders don't do that anymore.

Well i checked into the master cylinder and it costs about 50 bucks. which is money i don't have right now. i mean i could Rob a Bank or something but...

The transmission Gasket costs $5. Ill buy the cylinder if i can afford it but that's kind of my limitation right now. As of the first of next month ill be living in the RV. So i really have no choice but to utilize it even if i cant afford the Master Cylinder. If you would be willing to Donate the 50 bucks to buy it i would Gladly Accept it I can give you my Paypal Details or you could go to my blog and click on the Donate link Or you could find a working Master Cylinder and ship it to me My RV has the JB8 Braking system.

Likely you'll get it all worked out then.

I'm located far enough southeast of you so's I don't need to be concerned it's you coming up behind me. Maybe some of the people you share the road with nearer home would feel moved to contribute if you explained your value system and priorities to them.

Its not a matter of a Value system or priorities Its a matter of finances. Here are my choices. I either live in the RV and move it around without fixing the brakes. Or i leave it where it is and let them impound it and live under a bridge.
I wish i could will a brake cylinder into existence or the 50 bucks needed to buy one. but those are my two choices.

if its leaking its only a matter of time until you have a situation like joesph explained. master cylinder rebuild kits are still available. however you should hone the cylinder. so you need a hone also which will cost more than the kit, however should be well under 50 bucks. highdesertranger

Wesmagyar: Suppose you decided to stick up a bank for the money to fix your RV so's you wouldn't have to live under a bridge. But things didn't go the way you hoped and you had to shoot some bank clerk or security guard.

The choice at some level is a value judgement about whether the risk of being forced to kill someone to stay out from under a bridge, or do prison time, is a risk you are willing to take within the context of what sort of person you demand yourself to be.

Change that bank guard or clerk to an assortment of people in a car stopped ahead of you when your master cylinder pops an 0-ring and you've got an identical situation, though maybe you'll only put them in a hospital.

I'm not wise enough to have any answers nor to give any advice, and luckily it isn't my affair. You've gotten a lot of good advice from the people who answered your questions about mechanical issues, but nobody but you can decide whether it's better to live under a bridge or risk hospitalizing a carload of strangers.

Well. at least if the bank robbery doesn't quite work out the way you plan it, You'll at least have a home and food for awhile LOL just kidding, but only half kidding. I know a guy that has always said that was an option if things got too bad to handle.

The banks are lucky the people living under bridges mostly aren't hungry.

Ive done time in prison and it isn't an option. Frankly i think its kind of messed up you guys equate driving with a minor brake leak to killing a bank Guard or teller in cold blood.

For now though i am done with this Thread. I will fix the master cylinder as soon as i am able to. But sleeping under a bridge and Forsaking my cats and everything i own is not an option. I will check my brakes before i drive every time and if driving long distance i will pull over at every rest stop and check my levels. That is the best i can do until i can replace the cylinder.

As far as your criticism goes, Its easy to be Righteous when you have the means and or the money to fix problems such as this or fall back options if the sh!t hits the fan but i have nothing and really no one to help me. I am on my own. I slept under bridges and in Dumpsters for years and i do not intend to go back to that. I have spoken with people who are mechanics that i trust and they stated that the brake issue i have is relatively minor and so long as i keep the fluid levels up and don't ride my brakes like a granny there is no concern of me losing my brakes all together.
