Whatever anyone is comfortable with...

8 secs to me is a minimum...some people are uncomfortable with that...

And, I don't want to intrude on your gig....I thought tea and hugs would go well together....I can arrange another venue, if you'd like, wagoneer....

We all need a minimum of eight 8-second hugs a day to just survive - more to thrive...

And what scientific theory is that based upon? :dodgy:

8 seconds is a decent hug. I stir soup, innovations, not being afraid of the dark, and sharing caring mushy stuff like that's my gig. It's all up for grabs
Please feel free to enjoy your life.

Great hat!! I was a Medical Massage Therapist for many years. The proven benefits of human touch are numerous! Everything from helping premature babies gain weight, boosting the immune system and number of killer T cells, reducing nausea from chemo and radiation, and giving people of all ages the will to live.... just to mention a few :D I think it is wonderful you care enough to hug people  I still do free amputee massage and hypnotherapy to Wounded Vets for Phantom Limb Pain. It is amazing how much a simple touch can help someone physically, emotionally, and mentally. The world could use more people to give free hugs. I will look forward to mine

Forgive me if this is off subject. About 15 years ago I was almost killed in a horse related riding accident. The morphine wasn't enough to to the trick. One of my friends accompanied me in the er and ICU. When she simply put her hand on my foot or leg the pain would abate greatly. I think it was a true healing touch.

Kudos to you, salty sea witch!...thank you for providing those services.....

I'm of the belief every person is touch-deprived...touch of any sort is sexualized in this country...it's a crime, imho, to have that be the case...

the great thing about hugs is to give one, I also get to receive one!...

I recall a study in Russia on babies - a group got their physical needs met and no touch above and beyond basic caregiving...another group received was given lots of touch....the group with only basic needs given failed to thrive (they died at a high rate)...

In my experience, body work (massage, hugs, etc) helps with post traumatic stress response, also...

Mock Turtle - it's not scientific theory - it's study supported fact...[emoji39]...thank you for asking...

It's also a fact many aren't comfortable with touch as they've been taught it's wrong or only for a certain type of relationship, or they feel unworthy of being hugged and touched in a safe way (meaning one which is only for the sake of touch, rather than for sex)...

Many are also uncomfortable with eye contact - which is something else we all need for health...

Dragonflyinthesky - thank you for sharing...

I believe and personally know touch to be healing...there have been times I've felt emotional upset and I could feel the emotional charge of it being wicked away from me by the touch of others...

First rule, if I may be so bold, no asking for hugs in the tent... This will be a given. If your in the tent YOU WILL BE HUGGED, unless your holding a HOT CUP-O-TEA in which case caution will need to be taken....

Wagoneer - I firmly believe everyone ought be asked if its ok to touch them....it's a matter of respect and boundaries...

Not everyone is ok with being touched...not everyone has had their boundaries respected in the past...

I'd not want to be one to retraumatize them by not asking...

No kudos needed. I am proud to help and proud to be an Army Mom of 3 young men serving and would hope someone would do the same for them.

I recall that study as well. Many more have been done since. Also, some scientific ones. Lab results on Aid's patients show increased Killer T cells following massage therapy. Many others. A Google search brings up all kinds of cool research. I often wonder how the advancement of technology such as social media will affect our society as a whole? Less human interaction than ever :(

That is very important and I am glad to hear that you are aware and sensitive to this.

PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF I AM CROSSING SOME INVISIBLE LINE. I tend to speak my heart and for some it's too much. Just believe my intentions are proper and American.

I can't speak for anybody but myself but you haven't crossed any lines with me. see you at RTR. highdesertranger
