Sounds like you have your spots picked out for NC. That will help with your nervousness about the trip if you know exactly where you'll be going. All that gets easier and easier with experience.

Just in case you are not familiar with various ways to get around the forums here, check out the "Trucks" section of discussion threads. And those with the paperclip symbol will have photos. I think there are discussions about measuring to see how tall your bed can be (for storage under it) while leaving enough room to sit up (if that is possible in your vehicle), etc.
