The wife and I are beginning to look into going full time when we retire in a few years. I have been tent and camper camping since I was a kid my wife not so much. We are looking at  probably a 24ft trailer behind my '02 F250 diesel. I have been watching the videos on YouTube bea use of that I have alot of ideas on things I would want to do before we hit the road. Thanks for the forum, now it's time to figure out what we want and what we need.

Hi Rusty&Co, I hope your better half loves it. It can be tough if the better half is not happy or if expectations not met. I'm pretty sure you're aware of that, but just in case. I am not "roughing it", but it did take abit of adjustment for my crazier half. Best of luck to you and I hope you enjoy it as much as we both do now.

Welcome Rusrtyh to the CRVL forums! To help you learn the ins and outs of these forums, this "Tips & Tricks" post lists some helpful information to get you started. Welcome to the CRVL   :)

You've found yourself a good place to get that information you need.  I'd offer you to look at the bottom
site in my signature line as it is in part a lot of solutions to planning where to go before hand and to use once you
are on the road.

Do you think your wife will warm up to the change of lifestyle ?

Thanks for the welcome. It will be an adjustment for my wife she is pretty much a city girl so she will need a potty and shower to be comfortable. We are planning on renting a trailer and maybe a class C and start with small trips to make sure she can deal with being in the "wild" before throwing money into a trailer/rv. I prefer primitive tent camping because I can throw everything in the truck and go, she doesn't care for the tent life and would stay home when the boys and I would go camping. We will give it a shot, if she can't deal with full time maybe we will just go part time.

With a trailer or class c, youll have all the amenities as home. I hear tents dont have that :D

Welcome! Tell her it could be worse, I've been known to tent camp off a motorcycle :D

ArtW,
I did the motorcycle tent camping on a 21 day trip from Texas through Ontario into New York state and back to Texas several years ago loved every day. No time schedule stopped when I wanted checked out the sights that I wanted to see. We'll get things worked out to where she has what she wants.

Welcome Rusrtyh... Good luck getting the mamacita on board. My wife says if you ever see her spend a night in the woods, call 911, there's been a plane crash.

All my adult camping experience is motorcycle/tent trips into New Mexico, sometimes with a buddy sometimes alone. I would usually do a hard 600 mile day on the first day out to get past the Texas state line, then after that just mosey around the two lane blacktops seeing the sights, usually 100-200 miles per day staying somewhere different every day. Gotta say though that the daily tear down and set up started getting old, decided next time I would just go one place, set up camp, and just do day rides from there every day.
