Hi all!
Thanks for adding me to forum!
My name is Tina and I am a 4 day old newbie!  I am recently retired and looking to live your lifestyle. I left New York on Saturday and arrived in Arizona yesterday. I gave everything up in New York and here I am!  I have been watching Bob’s videos for awhile now and have been longing to do this. I am a young senior citizen and I am kind of worried about being alone right now. I watched Bob’s video on where to go in the spring and he said cottonwood so that’s where I am. I am staying in the View motel now hoping to hear from someone. I promise I will not invade your privacy just want to have people around. I will be car camping for now but I have a tent.
Thank you in advance, and hope to hear from someone soon!
Tina

Welcome to the forum Tina, it's great to have you here.

hey Tina2476, all the best on your new lifestyle. sounds great!

Welcome Tina to the CRVL forums! To help you learn the ins and outs of these forums, this "Tips & Tricks" post lists some helpful information to get you started. We look forward to hearing more from you. highdesertranger

Hi Tina and welcome. Best of luck to you. I really like the Red Rock area north of Cottonwood. We are planning on a week or so there in a couple of weeks. It's a real nice area!

Look forward to seeing you Wabbit!

Tina I'm not far from you. I'm closer to Camp Verde than Cottonwood but it's only 8 miles. It's even paved until you get to the camping area. Beautiful views, coyotes chattering, hot air balloons and even lions roaring!

Because of the construction there's a little bit of a detour but once you drive in and see how to go about it its a piece of cake.

I don't remember the name on free campsites but it's on Cherry Rd. Gotta be honest though. LOTS of ants and cows graze through here. I haven't seen them yet but they've left their evidence everywhere.

Welcome to the Great Adventure Tina!

Don't forget to visit the "Gatherings" section of the forum, people post all sorts of meet ups and on the move activities as they start to migrate to cooler temperatures over the next 30-45 days....

Good luck and safe travels!

Hi Tina!
Congrats! I'm a young senior too! Looking for traveling/Boondocking buddies too. I'm renting a spot in someone's backyard in Phoenix right now. Leaving here in a week or two, but Cottonwood seemed too cold still for tropical me, lol.
Aloha,
Lisa

Never been to Cottonwood and I appreciate if anyone knows the names of the free campsites and length of stay permitted. I'm going on 51yrs towards the end of March and I do not want to sit in this miserable town and been thinking bout where to go for a few weeks.

Hi Headache!
Thank you so much for answering my plea for help. I think I found the campsite you were talking about. I am going to try and find you a little later. I am still in hotel, but really can’t afford to do this much longer. Hope to see you later I have a black Chevy equinox. You will know me by my confused and desperate look! Hahaha! Again thanks a lot!

It's actually a website called "free campsites".  I think it's a .net site.  You can put in where you want to go and a map with pins will come up showing the locations around the area.  I still prefer to ask about specific areas for updated info and amenities that aren't included on the site.

If you want, check out of the motel(can't blame you if you don't), come on out here and I'll get you set up.   There's a decent spot for a tent not far from me.  There's some decent gals out here camped nearby.

I have to leave Tues. because I'll hit day 14 then but that should give you some adjustment time to figure out all the questions that will come up.

I'm in a sky blue extended van with white wavy stripes. Can't miss it.

If you turned at the light where shooting range and the wildlife park are that's the detour. When you come to the stop sign you'll be facing the jail, turn left. At the next stop turn right. It's maybe a half mile down on the left. You'll cross over a cattle guard about half way.

If you pass the first entrance that's okay. Go to the second one.
