I want to build an HF antenna but cant find anything easy to build anyone got any ideas or plans for one or show me what you got that works for you..

Easiest is a whip with a hook to hold it down during transit.

IGBT do you keep that antenna up while you are driving? seems it would catch a lot of wind. highdesertranger

No no of course not :)

We mostly use it when hiking or motorcycling. You toss one end up over a high branch and get 30 mile range instead of the normal 1 to 5 mile range with the rubber ducky.

Another good thing about the MFJ Hamstick, I have found that they run under 2 SWR when set up following the instructions. I don't use a tuner with my rig.

I use Hamsticks exclusively on my motorhome. Based upon numerous antennas I have experimented with, they perform the best for my application. I never operate HF when in motion, so I don't care how far they stick up. The roof of my motorhome is a single sheet of aluminum 8' x 16' and acts as an effective counterpoise. The antenna feedpoint is located exactly at the roofline which is abt 11' off the ground.

Hamsticks are effective and cheap. I first tune the Hamstick at the resonate frequency I want using my antenna analyzer. I do use an internal tuner in my rig when operating. It is fed with unbalanced line, RG8X.

My next project is to permanently mount a 32' Rohn push-up mast I can use as a center support for a full sized inverted Vee dipole when camped for a week or so.

I just set the antenna in place to show what it looks like. It needs a ground to chassis wire and the coax is just laying on the ground.

I don't know if all of you that provide links to this imgur know this. when you click on the link we see your pic but if you click on next post you see something posted by someone else and so on and so on. I wouldn't want to be associated with some of the post further down the line. just saying, maybe you don't care but I wouldn't want to be associated with something I didn't post. I have noticed this on a few different post with links to this site. highdesertranger
