What is  everyone opinion on  Lesharo/Phasar RV? good or bad

I always wanted one, but the problem now is getting parts and that could be expensive. From watching for sale ads, they seemed to last for quite some time. Winnebago/Itasca were especially good during the years those were produced. Right price and fairly good condition, I would check around about parts availability, also check for owner's groups like: https://beta.groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/Lesharo-owners/info or http://www.lesharorv.com/viewforum.php?f=35 I always look for problems that seem to plague most of the units of a certain manufacturer, that spells "lemon".

well you are asking for opinions right. I would never even consider one for many reasons but the two main ones are, front wheel drive, and Renault. highdesertranger

I'm doing research on RV(my budget $5000). I love the size of Lesharo/Phaser/Railta but I'm hearing bad reviews.

Unless you own an auto shop and you're REALLY good with Renault drivetrains yourself, pass on the LeSharo. Parts are scarce, and finding a competent mechanic to work on them is even more rare.

The Rialta's on the other hand are on a VW chassis... expensive to repair, but not as difficult to find parts for or finding a competent mechanic.

So this dealer has been talking to me back and forth about this LeSharo. It has a new engine with 2,000 miles. I think it's built on a VW chassis. They just dropped the price to $5995.00. I could probably get in it for around $5,000. If something breaks it could be really hard to find replacement parts. Looks like a repaint to me. I would start the offer at $3500. You can always go up after a barrage of questions of course. The first one being, what happened to the original engine?  Why was it rebuilt with only 59,500 miles on it? That's pretty low miles for a Diesel to go out at. How soon will the French built transmission go out, and what will it cost to repair? That may have something to do with why very few folk have them, and the one's I do see always seem to be for sale?
Having said all the above, they do seem like a cool little motorhome. I have actually looked at them before, but didn't pursue it due to the sketchy drive train.

Ask for a 20,000 mile warranty. Parts and labor.
That should end the phone calls.

Look around. See how many Renault's you see driving around?
Call your local mechanic and ask if they work on Renault's?
