I am also new here and have been doing a lot of watching and listening to the videos on everything here. Anyways, I want to go on this adventure, new chapter in my life; whatever you want to call it. I deal with nonstop pain for 7 years now which has intertwined itself with Severe Depression. I feel that this change in lifestyle will help with time to clear my head and help heal my body.
My family thinks it’s a bad idea and won’t support me. Being that I live with degenerative arthritis of my spine and joints the Depression really kicks my butt some days and I stay in bed 16-18 hours a day. I want to travel with the warmth and maybe along the way find a friend or two. I think this will help a lot to heal me. Any thoughts?

Welcome navidave95 to the CRVL forums! There are some on here that travel with similar pain. They will be along to give you an idea of what works for them.

To help you learn the ins and outs of these forums, this "Tips, Tricks and Rules" post lists some helpful information to get you started.

Most of our rules boil down to two simple over-riding principles: 1) What you post should provide good information (like your introductory post), and 2) Any response to someone else's post should make them feel glad they are part of this forum community.

We look forward to hearing more from you.

Getting support is often about the information you present and how you present it. There is plenty of evidence that your overall health will improve with the change of following better weather when you have arthritis.

My family also thought I was crazy for leaving and traveling. After a failed back surgery that limits my mobility and constant pain I decided to travel some. I told them that I needed a reason to get out of bed or my chair. That there was more to life than sitting around waiting for change that will never happen. My physical health will not change. I learned to do things slowly and to plan ahead for those days that just suck. For instance I carry water in smaller container so I can lift them. Takes up more space but I am still independent. I carry canned goods for those days I don’t feel like shopping or just cooking. You can do it your way. Planning is the key. When I travel I am in contact with family and friends. That gives them a little security in knowing what and where I am.

If you are mobile enough right now take the opportunity to change your life as you see fit. Embrace it and go forward and find what you need!! I feel it is up to you and do what a bunch of others have done when not supported in their families, send back emails and pictures and keep in contact and SHOW them you are doing well and enjoying your new life on the road. Showing is the best way to change minds and hopefully your health will improve along the way! Wishing you the best!

I also deal with RA and a few other chronic and degenerative conditions. I'm healthier, more active and feel better out on the road. There's no better place for me for as long as I can take care of myself

Warm weather does help with reducing pain. Welcome to the forum!
