Hello.  I am in the process of taking the plunge to a more nomadic existence.  Like many seem to have done, I found myself at a crossroads in life, and going mobile just seemed to make the most sense.  My current plan is to spend the next few months living close to where I currently live (a somewhat temporary arrangement), while gradually becoming more adept at living in a mobile way.

Once I thought of doing this a few months ago, it became a bit of an ear worm.  While at first I was dismissive, over time it seems like the only rational decision to make.  In many respects, I am tailor made for this.  I loved backpacking extensively a long time ago, I always wanted to spend time just exploring.  Superficially at least, I will have very little to change, being about as minimalist as one can be (not for any philosophical reason, I just never really wanted a lot of stuff, don't need much, and I don't like to have stuff I don't use).  I don't currently have anything tying me down, no debt, and almost no expenses, so I figure I will give it a go.

Have a great day, and I hope to see you all ... somewhere, and sometime.

Welcome
Patrick O'Brian or Stephen King?? Or maybe neither :) Happy to explain if that doesn't make sense.

I know of no King named Stephen, although there are enough puns in that to make Captain Jack chuckle around the world.   If Preserved is around, I will ask him.

Welcome to the CRVL forums Maturin! Sounds like you were born to be a nomad. Keep us updated!

To help you learn the ins and outs of these forums, this "Tips, Tricks and Rules" post lists some helpful information to get you started.

Most of our rules boil down to two simple over-riding principles: 1) What you post should provide good information (like your introductory post), and 2) Any response to someone else's post should make them feel glad they are part of this forum community.

We look forward to hearing more from you.

What a wonderful answer. Love it :)
For those who do not know what we are talking about a brief explanation.
Patrick O'Brian wrote a series around 2 characters. Captain 'Lucky' Jack Aubrey and his best friend and ships surgeon Stephen Maturin. If you have ever watched that great movie called Master and Commander you have seen these 2 characters. There is a whole series of books and they are great adventures.
The Stephen King reference is to the Great Turtle Maturin. In King's world the earth is held up by 2 giant turtles. It is featured in The Wasteland and also It.
Guessing at someone's internet name can be fun.
Mine are acronyms for Motorola integrated circuits. I have been using them for so long that everyone calls me Izi now. Life imitating art.
All the best Maturin.
