I don't know if I said this on here already so if I did, either ignore or a mod might just remove it...suits me. Anyhoo...

I was talking to a friend who works at the local Walmart here in my funny little town and she said they are shorthanded primarily because it is nearly im possible to hire folks here due to failing the drug test or really bad work history. So jobs there....

Another Job here is that the local Autozone has a sign up they are hiring,,,

So both places probably only pay minimum wage although my friend tells me that if you want to, you can move up fast in Walmart...the local manager is only 28..LOL The ones that don't, don't want to.

I am telling this because it is very. very inexpensive to live here and some on the road, needing work can find a little here. You can rent a space in one of the local rv parks, monthly, for about $130 plus power....not bad.

I do have a friend who spends the winter here every year and has never paid one night for camping off grid. As far as keeping clean there are a couple rv parks with hot spring spas attached and you can also get a monthly or yearly punch card from some of the spas for unlimited soaking...

Just saying....we also have a no-kill shelter for all animals and they do work-kamping but the lady that runs it is a horrible micro-manager and drives folks off so I won't recommend that. Maybe if you are a studly guy, you can charm the little French lady and get her to let up on the ego-trip.

Anyhoo,
Happy trails...
bri

Hi WMH...you are most welcome. I really don't think we are alone in that here, though.

If you have a really low overhead, you can get by on less income. It may be painful and it may be wrong, but it won't be changing anytime that I can see, so one needs to make the best of it....

As Charles Darwin said..."
"It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change"

Well honestly I am so overwhelmed right now I don't know what I'm doing. I'm not trying to be neg... actually I'm trying really hard to stay positive. I don't even care about selling stuff so much anymore, I just want it behind me. I am considering these things like a good place to go and hoping to get enuff to perhaps go there.. be it NM or somewhere w/opportunity and low overhead. I know I said I'd be a fool not to take Big G up on his offer, but I am so tired of everything I am considering doing just that.. and staying in my car. I think in all of this the most important thing for me is to keep my sanity and my integrity... F the rest... excuse the French or lack there of... I am really trying to take it odat and not make too many big decisions before I need to. I have been reading Bob's book in between everything and it has helped to help me know what to consider along w/everyone's posts here... I figure I will price my stuff what I would like w/negotiating room... and if it doesn't go the next day anything for a dollar... even one dollar at time I could get a couple hundred... lol.. yeah lotsa stuff... Anyway,.. NM sounds mighty fine...

p.s. I realize that many here are in similar or even worse circumstances. So i am sorry for what seems like consistent complaining on my part. It is sincerely not my intention and I have compassion for all in these situations... truly I hope to one day be an asset to others as you all have been to me.

I sure don't take it as complaining...not like much of what is going on elsewhere on this forum..LOL...you are fine lady.

It does seem to me like you are pretty up in the air about what to do and when and where to do it, but hey, that's OK, maybe writing it down will help you sort it out...a few comebacks and ideas may help and you will get through it....

best of luck and good fortune whatever you do...
Bri

a friend was in a similar situation, and she rented a storage unit for about 200 per month. She put her van in one side and all the stuff she was selling in the other. It worked out well for her..... she sold her stuff in a month and a half and had a place to put her van (and live) while she was transitioning.
just a thought..........

An update about what I mentioned in my OP about the cost per month for an RV space here in TorC, NM. I just saw an ad in one of the two local newspapers, offering an rv space in a downtown park for $105 a month includes water and sewer and cable....you pay electric. Sun and Shade rv park...

Hard to beat and you are within walking distance of all downtown...
Bri

I've always wanted to visit NM. But I don't want to be tied to one place.

I sure understand that....I was just posting those jobs since I read about all the folks who need to work and/or are concerned about finding work while living in a van...and that lead to the idea that if you are working, you may want a place to stay for a bit and to make it cheaper it is best to do longer agreements...like a month at a time...even true in Meixico....just putting it out there...
Bri

My son is droping off flyers for the local cable TV company. You might be able to do something similar. Just walking around neighborhoods, and not looking like a hoodlum.

Try doing delivery services or moving things. Talk to all the UHAUL places, and to the HARDWARE stores managers. Have a flyer available for contacting you. Ask if you can put flyers on cars in the parking lot, and you will remove all waist flyers within 24 hours, if they are tossed. might work

Oldsoul, somehow I missed your post, but great suggestion. Thank you!

Thanks Bri!
