If you have a dependable RV and a vehicle and would like to work this summer in N. California contact me. I have openings for four people.

hey now owl, really good of ya to offer fellow rubber tramp a job!!. fellow traveler gary

yah don't forget about me owl my give notice "D" day is 6/15/13. would this be related to campground stuff ? hope you are well.

It is host jobs, free campsite for the summer and $8.50 an hr. Requires a vehicle to move around the campsite checking folks in and maintaining bathrooms. Job runs through Sept 15. Unemployment can then be collected over the winter. We are in the Sierra mountains, 13 miles, as the crow flies, west of Lake Tahoe. The nearest town is Forest Hill and it is 40 miles and an hour away. 5300 feet in elevation so it is comfortable in the summer. Right on French Meadow reservoir. Great fishing, hiking, animal watching. Pets are ok but must be leashed and civilized. If you like the job you can come back every year or go someplace else with the company.

for crying out loud. sounds like heaven. Just have to float obamacare, and car repairs.

Hi Owl

I am very interested in working as a camp host or in maintenance but the timing isn't good for me now. I am looking to get a position for 2014 season. I am in the final stages of finishing my "home" and will be leaving my current job in Dec. here in Colorado and the "game plan" for me is to head out for Quartzsite in January for the "RTR", and meet everybody . I have been canvassing the "net" for any info on what potential employer's like who you work for/manage are looking for in a "camp host or "other" type of positions. I am concerned about what might be expected as far as the make/model/condition of my "home". As far as my work history , I have been in the commercial building maintenance for a long time. Are there any tips, suggestions that could help me line up a job career in this industry as I am ready for the change!! I love the outdoors/animals and have alot to offer in relatable work experience with the public. You know, I have to blame that "BOB guy " for showing me what I have been missing all the years, reading everything on his websites/blog ! Darn him anyways!!........................PLEASE HELP.....THX

                                                                                                                          Randy

Man that sounds tempting.... maybe one day I'll be prepared to compete with others for this kind of offer..... one day, hopefully sooner than later!

Oh wow!

What an offer. I would love to follow up on that as well.

Unfortunately, the Man has me for child support. I need to make quite a bit to keep myself afloat for my future vanning, and pay the debt as well. I am used to at least $11/hr.

One day....one day....I will be happy to make it on $8.50 an hour.

One day...I will make it on stock dividends alone.

Love you for offering!

Hey Owl,
I am free from my regular job for the next two months...but my van is still completely empty Its going to be a few weeks until its ready to go. If you do not fill the positions would you consider taking me on for 5 or 6 weeks??? If not I will be looking you up next year

The company is California Land Management. They are a big player in the campground business. Before you decide you don't like Cali you should see where we are located. It's just this side of heaven. Randy, I will be in Q in Jan. Look me up.

Thanks Owl!!

I will definitely see you in Quartzsite at the RTR. I had emailed Bob as well and he explained how things worked in the industry as far as how the different camp sites and requirements for being a host are....was very helpful!! . I plan on being set-up to work in remote areas if need be. I am hopefully looking get as many hours of work as possible for a season as I am still needing to have an income coming in. It is great to find such nice people who are willing to help out selflessly.....very refreshing in this day and age!!!
                                                                                                           Randy

One thing to keep in mind. Many of the companies who manage campgrounds expect the hosts to use their own vehicles to work the campground. That's why I posted an rv and auto. If you are trying to work out of a van you will have to break camp every day. Big hassle. If you have an rv with a towed vehicle you are golden. Still have openings!

It is impossible to carry a shovel, rake, picker, brush, bucket, bottles of bleach, deodorant, garbage bags, full and empty etc. on a bicycle.

I am building a trailer for my bike, have repurposed a big wheeled golf cart.

W E, where are you located? Are you interested in this job?

Owl,
I am more than interested but.. and it is a big.. but, I am Canadian living in Ontario, so not able to do this, though it is right up my alley!
