Just wanted to say hi.  I have a story.. but only give you part of it, read between the lines if you want, you might be correct or you might be wrong.

I have been lurking  youtube and forums for the last few years. I have a few issues, 1. I want to visit family I haven't' seen in about 30 years. 2. Stability is fleeting ever since I was hit by a cement truck and had to retire early.

I'm in my late 50's, female, and like to paint and draw, love the outdoors and enjoy hiking when I am not in too much pain. and love plants especially herbs that smell good.

I also like to travel, meet new people and places that are down to earth... things that don't happen too much living in a city and not having the funds.

I somewhat hate sticks and bricks, especially large ones, I worked my butt off to raise my children and enjoyed having homes and fixing them up, but that I was doing for the kids, now they are grown and I find no joy in it and no reason to continue cleaning a dust and junk trap.

I went from a nest builder to a mess builder, and can't place my finger on the actual day that happened, sometime around when my youngest teenager became a grown up and moved out... I found myself still trying to build a nest.. it took a few years to unravel that behavior and am on my way to total reduction. On my way.. more like just starting, I'm getting ready to sell a house and need a bit of security because I live in an unstable environment at this time.

I've waited on and served people all my life, and now looking to serve myself some and after a few years of consideration I've come to the place I think a van would be best for me. I'm still throwing around regular top or high top and leaning towards regular though, I want high top for comfort,  yet, I find a regular sized van will meet most of my needs and I don't have to worry about parking it.

I will most likely design and build the conversion myself, as my spouse is dead set against it, and may resist me most of the way.. that is until it looks cool to go fishing or hunting with... ha!

I started looking at the  Ford as I wanted to support American built, but now leaning more towards a Nissan nv or Mercedes, I already have a interior design in my head that will work for me.. bed not in back as I want a through way from front to back.

I'm still working out where to put the batteries as the place I want to is in the boot or back, I'm concerned about weight, esp if I get a Nissan as it is front wheel drive.

I've worked out water tank placement with in the van between the two axels, same with propane tank, I have to have refrigeration to hold medicine... so 12 volt, shoreline, solar. have to be a part of the design. I won't have the funds to get an already built one unless I find a good deal, so I have to consider these things into the design. Plus I am not mechanically knowledgeable, and am considering a newer, not new, vehicle.

Ok I hope this isn't too huge of an introduction, Anyways ty ty for all of you that have shared your ideas and builds, and make me feel as if this is something I can do, while allowing me some security of knowing I will always have a home... though it isn't a house.

Warm Regards
JJWillow

Lol! yes I'm still alive. The hit was enough to do some life changing damage but not enough to kill me, it's been a struggle, but the experience of life in that situation came with some very important lessons and experiences. I wouldn't wish it on anybody, but ya have to make lemonade and move on.
