Hello

Just bought a van last week.  Have about 4 more years to work and plan on building it will I still have a little money.  I have traveled 49 of the states and hope to make it to Alaska once i join this wonderful community. I have lived off a motorcycle using a tent for a few months at a time and traveled with my grand parents as a child.  They were vandwellers.  They sold their house and spent their golden years in a travel trailer exploring the US and Canada.  I started watching Bob's videios back when he was partnered with another youtuber and have always found him very inspirational.  I hope to learn a lot here as I am sure the bliss i feel could be from ignorance.  What scares me the most is not knowing what i don't know.  I can deal with the rest:).  I live in the Detroit MI metro area and if you ever find yourself in the area please say hi.  I am very handy and have basic tools.  Used to be a certified mechanic and wood working is a hobby.  So if you need a hand I don't mind you asking as long if I have to say no you can handle that.

Thanks to Bob and all the Mods for all the work they put into this!!!!

Jeff, welcome to the forum. I've spent some time traveling on a motorcycle and tent camping but not near as much as you have. Are you building minimal or adding most of the comforts possible? I'm living on a fixed income and will travel light, probably in a pickup with topper. I believe vans are the most popular vehicle on this forum. You'll fit in well.

I plan a minimal van build.  Would like solar and possibly a compost toilet (expensive but will try).  but I do have the luxury of time and trial as I cant retire for awhile.  Was thinking of a camping cot and used furniture (secured to the old seat tie downs) to figure out what works for me. When do you plan on starting your build?
