Because of technology:

I cancelled my Comcast monthly subscription for both basic television shows ($24 monthly) and home wifi internet ($39 monthly). Instead, I now use my Android smartphone (via Foxfi/PdaNet app) to wirelessly tether and provide internet access to my laptop and tablet so I can surf the internet. Good thing I still have (grandfathered) unlimited 4G LTE goodness through Verizon! I now also watch free over-the-air television shows by simply using a Terk amplified TV antenna and get over 30 different TV stations...all for free, plus some hi-def channels too! Wish I could understand Spanish to understand a handful of channels, haha! I also cancelled my NetFlix subscription ($7.99 monthly) and simply watch tons of free movies and TV shows using the Android app called "TV Portal". I stopped using a phone land line many years ago in favor of simply a cell phone. With the advent of Skype, I can make international phone calls for free any time of the day. Again, phooey to Comcast! I can also download tons of free MP3 songs using an Android app called "Music Download" which unfortunately doesn't exist in the Google Play store anymore. But I think there are similar alternatives for apps for downloading free music. I just got my GF to buy a decent previous generation Samsung S3 Android smartphone with her MetroPCS account with unlimited everything for $60 monthly including tax. Granted, MetroPCS reception is so-so, but it works well enough to at least stream YouTube videos. My GF now is also able to also wirelessly tether and provide internet access for her laptop and tablet, courtesy of Foxfi/PdaNet app. Did you guys read about Google floating balloons into the stratosphere to provide free internet to people in remote locations of the world? Hopefully Google will provide free and fast internet access to everyone in the U.S., that would be fantastic. Then we might all be able to stop paying cell phone companies, haha!

Casey
