We're looking ata Livin' Lite camper and they offer a 9000 btu ac as an option, good to know it will run on a generator.

Appliances we'd use would be a blender to make smoothies, and maybe a toaster.

you will have to check the input rating of the AC, on both run and start up. then get the specs for the generator, I am not sure on the exact number but I believe the Honda 2000i is rated for 1600 or 1800 contentious draw. they do make a companion 2000i generator that can run bigger AC's but then you need 2 generators. highdesertranger

We do all of the things you are looking for while out in the boonies with no hook ups. We cook on an electric stove most of the time, run a 12 cup coffee maker, hair dryer, 900w microwave, even a 5000 BTU air conditioner.

It's easy really. we have a quarter ton of batteries that would cost two grand to replace. Three 40x65 solar panels that weight 50 lbs each. A large solar controller and even heavier inverter and a bunch of really heavy wiring. It takes up about half of the cargo capacity of the trailer but the freedom is crazy. We simply don't worry about how much power we use. I do know we average between 100 and 200 AH daily.

So can it be done? Yes Is it practical? Maybe not.

But the silence, to you and your neighbors, is priceless.

jimindenver - I think if we were going full time we'd consider solar only, but for the occasional month long trip we probably wouldn't make the leap. Your setup sounds pretty sweet though!
