Inverter/charger .. where to ground?

you are thinking of chassis as the ground. it's not. the battery is the ground the chassis is just acting like one big common wire, everything you connect to the chassis must ground through the battery which if you set up like I said must go through the shunt. if you connect a separate wire from the chassis to battery negative it will bypass the shunt and anything with a chassis ground will not be read. yes I am using ground and negative as the same, and yes I know they are different. but in common use battery negative is referred to as ground. highdesertranger
