Aloha! I'm a 66 yo woman, currently living in Hawaii, working full time. Pretty much all I will have once I retire will be my Social Security checks, around 2k per month. I always figured I would live in motorhome or van for as much of retirement as possible.
At age 63, I sold my home, kicked the kids out, downsized like crazy and ran away to Hawaii. My current apartment is 11 x 15, so a decent start on understanding living in a small space.
Once my credit card debt is paid off, I will be able to retire. I will move back to the mainland and get my van life going. I am doing my live in Hawaii dream now, but sure as heck cannot afford it once I retire.
So. My questions will be on kinds of  van/motorhomes, cheap options for living location, tips and tricks and part time job options. And medical care . .I look forward to communicating with all of you.

Welcome. Read up lots on this forum and watch lots of YT videos (believe about 50% of what you see there as "real").

Too bad you can't figure a way to stay there as the weather is ideal and heat/cooling is one of the mainland's biggest problems and costs. Yes your gas is high but the big island isn't all that large. Course trying to find parking to sleep could be an issue.

Anyway, welcome and keep people posted on what you are looking at time and place-wise. There's a women's only forum you might look at as well.

Welcome to the CRVL forums! To help you learn the ins and outs of these forums, this "Tips, Tricks and Rules" post lists some helpful information to get you started.

Most of our rules boil down to two simple over-riding principles: 1) What you post should provide good information (like your introductory post), and 2) Any response to someone else's post should make them feel glad they are part of this forum community.

We look forward to hearing more from you.

Aloha oe -- e komo mai!

You're kinda copying me and X LOL. We sold our house and moved to Kauai when the youngest turned 18. We were kamaaina 10 years and are now exploring the mainland, living in and out of a wheely egg (scamp trailer).

Cheers to your pau hana plan!

E komo mai!

I'm from Hawaii living on the mainland so it's vice versa! Just got back from Hono a month ago. Crazy stuff going on there. Looks like the restrictions are lessening though on Oahu. What island are you on?

Hello blue lady. Welcome to the forum, I sincerely hope you find what you’re looking for. Stick around and let us know the details of your adventure and your choosing a rig , your build out, and such.
