Hey, this is Tom. I'm new. I'm not an alcoholic. Yet. Just checking things out for now, thinking of beginning a diy conversion in the next year and getting the lay of the land... figured some of you on here have already made some of the mistakes I might make and might help me steer clear of a few of them... I am pretty stubborn though. With that I guess I'll dive in.

So you are into alcohol but it hasn't got to you yet? OK,good.

Welcome to the forum.

Welcome Tom to the CRVL forums! To help you learn the ins and outs of these forums, this "Tips, Tricks and Rules" post lists some helpful information to get you started.

Most of our rules boil down to two simple over-riding principles: 1) What you post should provide good information (like your introductory post), and 2) Any response to someone else's post should make them feel glad they are part of this forum community.

We look forward to hearing more from you.

Alcohol plays an important part in your life, otherwise it would not be mentioned. You may be like the coughing hacking smoker who says they can quit any time they like, but they enjoy smoking so choose not to quit. The truth is addiction is a very powerful thing. You may have a hundred excuses why you drink, but they are excuses and not reasons.

Finding an alcoholic is like finding a wealthy person. Ask someone with $5 are you wealthy, they will say no it is the person with $50. Ask that person and they will say no it is the person with $500, ask them, no it is the person with $5k. it keeps going. There is always someone else to point a finger at and say not me, but them. They figure about only 2% of alcoholics make it to skid row. The rest die, get locked up, or live in a vehicle so that their drinking money will go farther. The yet may have already come.

My advice, (from a past drinker), is have a look at if you want to be a nomad so that you have more drinking money and time. What you spend your time thinking about becomes your master.

I didn't take it literally but rather as a tongue-in-cheek disclaimer since his intro sounded like the opening at an AA meeting.

Welcome to the CRVL Forums   :)

If you get a place far enough out in the boondocks, you could run your own small still.  I live in the heart of Appalachia and there are those here
who can run shine and flavor it to look & taste like anything you would buy at the liquor store.  But remember,  it's still as illegal as ever....in the USA.

I took it the same way as gypsyjan. but the warning is good for everyone. that stuff can ruin your life. I have ruined mine with food - its still an addiction.
