do you mean 6v? if you do to get 12 volts you must go in pairs, 2, 4, 6, 8, etc. no threesomes allowed. highdesertranger

With 8 volt batteries you'd have to have 3 to make 24 volts and then use a step down to bring them to 12 volt unless you want to buy everything to run off 24 volts.

If my math is right you're going to get 255 a/h at 12 v so only 127.5 usable amp hours.

Is that enough.

I notice they also only come with a 1 year warranty...doesn't sound like much to me for $130.00 each and the odd sizing of them in terms of volts.

8 volt batteries are a rare bird , what was their intended purpose ?
Three would make 24 volts if you want to switch everything to run on that.

At the local golf course the Yamaha carts are powered by Trojan 8v's.

8 volts were marketed "back in the day" of the 6 v auto electric system.
Even back then they knew that 6v were inadequate and adding those two volts gave you better starting and better lighting. Tweak the voltage regulator and you were golden!

Just like today we will soon be moving to 24 volt electrics. 12v just can't meet todays auto needs.

I was in Costco last week and they had 8 volt batteries.

Nor today's camper/ dweller needs. The inverters that many use are simply too big for 12v due to the high amps needed to create 2-3000w or more. Some bigger cheap inverters have multiple positive and negative post to hook up to the bank. That's because the internal wiring isn't heavy enough to take the amps at full power. It may have been less expensive but the extra run of cable are going to cost you.

Most every battery  manufacturer has an 8 volt line up.

I 'think' Interstates 8v's are made by US battery.
If so, these might require higher than average absorption voltage.

My US battery required 14.9v then 15.3v the rest of the afternoon, but it was a group31 12v

That's why my full build-out (eventually) will be a 24-volt based system, with a 4,000-watt Magnum hybrid inverter/charger!

Hooah!

I never knew 8 volt batteries were used in so many applications !

I have a 2800 watt Heart Interface inverter w/ a 90 amp charger built in........never used it !
Overkill for me . 600 watts is more in tune with my needs.

I was in Costco and they have 8v batteries stacked right next to the 6v batteries; $99.xx
