There is 3g service available for cheap without the government program stuff. I have not tried it nor do I know how long it will last.

I am not full time and Tracfone meets my Smartphone needs, cheap base service, $12.50 a month with 500 gb data, on a bimonthly pre-pay. Additional data at $10 a gb. They don't appear to be accounting for 3g usage??? No tethering allowed.

I live on usually 6 GB high speed + unlimited low speed (2G?)through ATT, costs me $60 / month but tethering allowed
I wonder how much data I'd use if I didn't ration myself?

Just FYI, I looked into this service a few months ago when Cyndi posted about it and it's really a great deal for people who aren't mobile. The system works off Sprint towers so if you do go mobile YMMV regarding connectivity.

There hasn't been anywhere that I have had the chance to check that was not at least Sprint 3G. That is what makes this a better deal than my unlimited Sprint LTE for $14 a month because it is useless if there is only 3G. The 4Gcommunity service that includes 3G is $25 a month.

I don't qualify for that but did find a referral for Patriot Mobile.... for those who want cheaper cost and not giving big bucks to companies that are drowning in political lobbying... https://www.patriotmobile.com/ It appears to have a $25 plan.

IDK about far west, but central west coverage looks sparse ..maybe they use another's? East coast is where they began I guess and continue to flourish?

considering.

called and cancelled my internet provider  ... coming to get the equipment on the 21st

You probably should have waited a bit longer.  One day is not long enough for testing purposes IMO.

Most of you may not be affected, but the fine print says:

Sprint "Quality of Service" Practices (QoS): Unlimited customers who use more than 23 GB of data during a billing cycle will be deprioritized during times and places where the Sprint network is constrained.

I would think "deprioritized" = "throttled"   :D    But hey, for 10 bucks a month, I wouldn't mind.
