I understand the 2003-6 are desirable. Looking for feedback as to other years and stuff to avoid. Thanks

Hi gjens1 and welcome to the forums. Best of luck on your Sprinter hunt!

My class B is on a sprinter chassis, and I have owned one of these for 12 years.

If well cared for and maintained, the engines can go 500,000 miles.

You want one that has been driven, not let sit, so look for reasonable mileage as well as maintenance.

Good luck.

My van is a 2008 Dodge Sprinter 2500 high roof 148" wheelbase with the 3 liter turbodiesel motor.  It had about 200,000 miles on it when I purchased it late last summer. (On Craigslist--which I would not do again from a private party.)
Since it was "rode hard and put up wet" by its original owner (I am #3) and its issues were not disclosed to me by the prepurchase inspection, I would hope you use more sense than I did and make sure to look over maintenance records and engage a trusted knowledgable mechanic to look at it carefully.  If this person is you, yippee!
Since it is the only van I've had, I can't compare it with other makes and models, but for living in, it is roomy and the high roof is wonderful. Still gets about 20+ mpg.
Good luck!

Hi there jgens 1! I was going to buy a cargo van but I am 5'7" and probably too tall to be comfortable in it. So, a Sprinter may be the way to go. Several months back I read that they were not dependable. But since then I've seen a lot of them out there and I will want to get one. don't know how pricey they are. Anyone know?

Sorry Stardust!! Just getting started with this. I am sorry that you are having problems with yours. I will learn from you because I tend to jump at something because it looks good. Want it so bad nything will do. Good Luck!!!!
