I will say though that your trip will be a good time for some serious soul searching. Perhaps ask your wife to do the same while you are gone. Then talk about what each of you wants after the trip. No matter what, she has been your partner for many years and deserves that respect.

I've been divorced 3 times in 3 states, and lived with several women. When you get divorced, basically the judge asks the woman what house she wants. She tells him, and then if there's another house, or van, or whatever, the man gets it. She can stop you from selling the house. She may owe you for half of it, but she won't get kicked out if she doesn't pay. SO, I may be wrong, but I may be right. You have to sell the house with a pretext (we're buying another house), then when you get the money in your hand, you give her half and tell her you're going on the road. Don't bring her with you, she'll be a downer and you won't find what you want.

I see 2 issues that need to be addressed: if the mortgage is getting difficult to pay then it would be best to sell the house before the bank comes to foreclose on the house! Because the next thing that happens in this situation is the mortgage payments get behind when it is hard to make the payments, all it takes is 3 payments behind and the bank will foreclose on the house and it is hard to come up with the 3 payments to keep the house. Your younger son may need counseling the gaming is just an escape from reality, renting an apartment for him (if you can afford that) and telling he's got to make or he'll be on the street would be the way to go. Maybe one of his friends might take him in as a roommate, he'll definitely have to pitch in in this situation or they will through him out on the street. Ether way this is the way to get him to grow up! I think taking care of these 2 things will lift a lot of weight off of your shoulders and will be a good start.
