"I wonder just what Chrysler engineers were drinking in those days?" probably the same thing they are drinking nowadays only now they are drinking more. highdesertranger

You go girl, it just boosts your confidence level. having changed my share not getting any easier. big truck tires are a struggle at 68 so i have slowed way down and it just takes longer. keep a 3 ft bar just in case thinking about getting a cheap ryobi cordless ratchet . Using a bottle jack so the tire is just off the road and minimal lifting required.

Speaking of female mechanics....sittin here watchin the 24 Hours of LeMans (hour 4) and they've just announced that Leena Gade, the first female engineer to win LeMans is leaving Audi Sport and moving over to Bentley for a new endeavor overseeing the engineering of the 'customer cars' in the Bentley racing program. (Bentley, now owned by VW, is part of the same overall 'family'...Porsche/Audi/VW).

As lead engineer for Audi's LMP Prototype number 7 car, she won the '24 Hours' in 2011, 2012, and 2014. These cars are extremely complex hybrid/electrics capable of speeds above 220mph. One of the more ironic awards was that she won the "FIA World Endurance Championship’s ‘Man of the Year’ award" in 2012 as well as the C&R Racing Woman in Technology Award. (Her sister Teena also became a racing engineer....parents must have a sense of humor naming their daughters 'Leena' and 'Teena'!)

So to all the ladies out there...ain't nothin mysterious about vehicles; if a man can figure it out so can a woman.

And it's never too late to learn something new.   :)

I guess you never worked on a 70 Challenger.

They have Right Hand Thread and Left Hand Thread lug nuts.

I am so glad they stopped that nonsense!  :p

There are exceptions to every rule. How many other things have left hand threads? If something doesn't want to come off turning it counterclockwise, try turning it clockwise. Sometimes that is necessary to break rust, and crud loose. My point was that mechanical systems are not rocket science. Nothing prevents anybody from learning. If you like puzzles, you might like mechanics.
