I finally built my bedframe! My sister and I built it together. It turned out pretty nice. It slides into a full-sized bed, or can be pushed back into a couch(ish).

My sister made a little video: https://photos.app.goo.gl/31HTztadUBViNJ9y7

Very nicely done, if I could ask...how wide, and how long is that bed ? I'm 6' tall, and don't think I could fit laying sideways.

If you are 6' you will be uncomfortable with a sideways bed. I'm 5'5 1/2." I made the frame 69" wide and it has enough clearance to move easily. It is about 70" between walls, it will be less if you use a lot of insulation. (Depends on the van though). It's a full-size bed when open so it's 54" wide.

Nice job, queen :).

In regards wanting longer beds, for instance in my GMC Savana van it's 74-76" across directly over the wheel wells, so you can put in a regular foam twin-size mattress, 37"x74", if you don't install paneling on the walls. However, it's still possibly to slide some insulation like a foam camping pad between the mattress and walls. Also, a lot of taller people who usually use queen size beds have mentioned sleeping at an angle. If you do the math the twin mattress has an 83" diagonal. You can also learn to sleep in your side, curled up a bit like a baby.

I also meant to say earlier that I have thought about insulating and paneling my van like queen did. What I would do is leave the back panels off the ends of the bed, so I could still retain the approx 74" length, but use that blue foam padding I linked to to provide insulation back there. One nice thing is that it also acts as a soft surface so you don't bump your feet against cold metal.
