I was holding my amp meter in place with that chrome looking Hvac tape just
until my glue dried that I was using to mount it with when I noticed that the
green light barely showed through the tape making it the perfect brightness.
Without the tape the green light is very bright , the light is dimmer then
what the picture shows.

I've used layers of window tint or a thickness of smoked acrylic. The Ammeter display is still too bright at night with the smoked acrylic

I often use black nail polish to coat LED indicators on electronics. Can dim the bulb or black it out depending on how thick it's coated. Doesn't really apply to a full LCD readout though.

I agree about it being too bright sometmes , i'm thinking of installing a kill switch in the
positive wire and only turning it on when I'm charging or i am in a need of a night light.

My battery monitor shuts it's light off after a few seconds. On when I touch a button.
