We are a couple of newly retired folks. We will begin our new lives in April when we will be full time. We have a travel trailer newly installed solar and a side by side to haul behind us to run around the mountains in. We plan on living out our days fishing, prospecting a little (just for fun and maybe I will get lucky and find some beautiful crystals!), looking for herbs and wild food and my husband loves to hunt. We had planned on retiring and farming our 10 acres. We planted 40 fruit trees, 70 different berry bushes and lots of herbs (I'm an herbalist) and veggies. But our 5 year plan went out the window when my husband came home from work and uttered 4 life changing words...I got layed off. He worked in the oil fields of the Uintah Basin in the state of Utah and probably 80% of the oil field has been layed off thanks to our government deciding it controlled all business. Sorry for the attitude. But we decided it was the best thing that could of happened to us! We are making lemon aid from lemons! We are going to do full time what we could only do part time before and become professional Campers! To supplement our retirement I plan on selling crochet patterns I make, on the internet. I need to learn how to do more internet stuff, but I will learn!!! This is the only blog I am subscribed to. I love getting my CheapRVliving emails. Bob speaks truth in each one. Just like to say God bless all of you and keep you happy, safe and always free!

Welcome aboard Pat !
Sounds like you have a great plan.
I'm sure you'll have lots of fun.
If you need any help or advice .
This is a great place to ask.

Maybe you can bring your herbs with you.

Thanks! You know the big storage area under the bed of a travel trailer? Well ours is full of herbs! I plan on making my creams, salves and tinctures till I croak! Love herbs they are the best medicine whether your sick or just wanting to stay healthy. I see so much unnecessary suffering because folks have been brainwashed into thinking they are bad and chemical laden pharma is good. It's crazy. Thank you for the welcome.

I'd bet there are people here that would be interested in some of your potions.
Doctors and Pharma have created a vicious cycle that I avoid like the plague it is!

My mom crochets too , she made me a huge afghan with kokopelli in the middle but I had to create the pattern for her !

Wild herbs? Wild food?

Ever think of giving classes on how to forage? Might be some extra cash in that. I know I would pay someone to take me out and show me how to identify things and were they grow the best.

Have fun!

John

Hey and Welcome Pat!
 I'm new myself and learn something new every time I log on. Seems like a great bunch of folks that's always ready to chime in.
Safe travels, Tim

welcome aboard  g-pat,  even though you guys have had a heavy duty set back it sounds like you've a plan in place and are rolling with the punches.  i too am a crocheter and just inherited a large amount of "workbasket"  mag's and other patterns i've yet to go thru.   with your hubby being a hunter and you a herbalist these skills will surely be handy in your new adventures.   happy trails to you both from texas jaybird & queenie { the untrained attack chiquaqua }
