From Bob's and Suanne's YouTube video March 25
This is a short excerpt for everyone who cannot watch the entire video.
What we're going to do is every evening of the week starting on Monday which is March 30th is have
a virtual campfire from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. That's a Pacific Daylight Time. It'll be like a caravan
campfire and so we're using our meetup program the same way we do with caravans to have people RSVP. RSVP in
this particular situation is important because we want to keep them small enough to be like a campfire so that
everybody has a chance to talk, everybody has a chance to introduce themselves. We'll have a question of the night -
people go around the circle to answer that question of the night then at the end of these one-hour video
virtual campfires you'll have a chance, if you would like, to exchange contact information so that you
can then continue the community connections that you made at the campfire.
We're gonna limit the participants to
20 plus either a staff person from HOWA or trustee from HOWA will be kind of a facilitator to make sure everybody has a
chance to speak and that they'll have the question of the night and that kind of thing. To find out about them and to
RSVP go to https://www.meetup.com/Caravans/events/ (scroll down). We've put one week's worth of virtual
campfires in from 5:00 to 6:00 every evening. Choose the one that you want, then the day before the campfire go
ahead and RSVP. You can go in and look at them now but you won't be able to RSVP until the day before the campfire.
Just before the virtual campfire we will email you or message you from in meetup and let you know what
the URL is of Zoom.
Zoom is a video conferencing software. You can attend by video so that we can see your face or
you can call a phone number and attend by phone if you don't have that kind of bandwidth on your phone or if
you don't have a good connection on your phone.
I have a link in the descriptions of these virtual campfires to a tutorial that Zoom themselves
has posted it so you can go in and watch that tutorial.
We're doing seven days of the week and four of those days are going to be location-specific
groups. We have a location in the greater Quartzsite area, the Greater Yuma area, the Parker /Lake Havasu area and
then the Pahrump/ Las Vegas area. The reason that we wanted to do that is so that when you are there you get to
actually meet people in that general area and, should you choose, you can camp loosely with each other.
If meeting in person remain a good six feet apart but at least you'll be in visual distance and you won't be alone.
