An interesting question came to mind with the East Coast blizzard situation. How does one handle parking and such when you'll be arrested if on the road and if you stay anywhere you'll be plowed in until the thaw? In many places you get towed if the van is in the way.

Find public parking and always carry a shovel.

I'd agree find a public place to hang, and a good stack of DVD's or what ever else you can pass the time with. Hibernation would work for me.

You're mobile. UA the AO, before the blizzard hits. Even down here in sunny Florida, we heard the warnings for folks up there days before it got too bad to travel.

I always carry tire chains and shovel, but much prefer to avoid storms.
Have ridden out a couple blizzards at truck stops and walmart, one time at a motel- 10 bucks to the desk clerk and no hassle.

We're never been in a no-travel-order situation but we have been in some bad snow storms where driving would have been unsafe. In those cases we pulled into a big box lot and stayed until the roads were plowed.
