My sleeping pattern is 8 hours  go to bed at 8 wake at 4 am 9pm wake at 5am so forth so on. Not being a reader sucks. Watching dvd's helps a little when it's cold just laying in bed
goes against my grain. I have been known to start driving at 4am stopping only to make coffee, am I alone in this?

I've never been able to keep any kind of discernible sleep pattern. Some nights I won't be able to get to sleep until 3 or 4 AM. I have a regular 9-5 remote job, so that means I'm up before work on a couple hours' sleep and often I'm still awake until 3 or 4 AM that next night too. Then I might crash out at 8 o'clock one night only to wake up at 10PM unable to get to sleep until... 5 or 6 or 7 AM because I inadvertently napped...

On weekends I typically sleep from [whenever I fell asleep] until noon or whatever. Sleeping in isn't my problem, just getting to sleep. On very rare occasion I'll actually get 8 hours of sleep on a week day and I'd like to do that more often.

As for the mornings, make a little heat to get rid of the cold, put on some fuzzy pants, make some coffee, sit down with my laptop... take a walk...

I wake at somewhere in the 4AM range as well but it's usually my bladder and arthritic pain that's woken me so both are solved with a trip to the bathroom and a couple of Ibuprofen. Back into a comfy warm bed and I can sleep until at least daylight.

When I'm away from home I can take a morning sunrise walk. Here in the S&B, I usually end up on the internet.

I'm looking forward to way more morning sunrise walks - 18 more sleeps.... :D

Read, write, watch, TV, forums, you tube, clean, dogs, walk, exercise. Photography, fishing and my favorite. Drink coffee and listen to the birds wake up.

I have always been a early riser. Generally 5-6 am in the summer, 6-7 am in the winter. I never sleep in, if I am tired I go to bed early only to wake even earlier.

I'm a terrible sleeper, maybe 6-7 hours a night if I'm very lucky, but 4-5 more the norm. If I drink at all it's much worse, sleep for a couple of hours then wide awake for three+ hours.

That said, when I wake up super early I play on the internet, read blogs, listen to music; if I'm in nature/traveling I will wander or take off driving, love to drive very early in the morning, the roads are more like they were in the 70's, less crowded and annoying.

I read a bit and fall asleep, usually 9:30-10.
I wake sometime around 3-4 am, pee, take a couple hits off my pipe and fall back asleep till 6 or 7 and put on some coffee.
Traveling, I might stay up at 4, have coffee and drive when it gets light.

Margie can knock out while I read and easily sleep to 7am.
Bindi doesn't bother to wake till 10 ish most days.

Perhaps you need a craft hobby to occupy yourself with. I personally think morning starts around 11AM. Maybe crochet or knitting? Also be handy to make blankets with or knitted/crochet hats and scarfs. Maybe crochet those little granny squares and eventually piece then together to make blankets.

Don't be silly, CR.  Wagoneer is clearly a Manly Man (tm) and Manly Men only do Manly Men stuff.  If he needs a hobby, he should take up high-speed chases or blowing stuff up . . .

John

My mornings are mostly the same. I am up at sunrise for Fajr. Mr. Pico and I then go on a walk so he can do his business. Then coffee and check the happenings on the laptop. Breakfast between 8am and 10am. Then the day begins...I am very laid back about mornings. It is a good time to plan and make notes.

I guess Linebacker Rosie Greer was not a Manly Man (macrame and needlepoint, even wrote a needlepoint book). Needlework and yarn work are very soothing activities and provide useful items. It is also a "compact" craft that travels well.

After 26 years in the theatre industry, I tend to be a bit of night owl. For the most part I find it difficult to get to sleep before midnight, so I like to get up around 8:00 or 9:00 a.m. when I can. More often than not, that's not possible due to my work schedule though. That said, I find that when I'm out on one of my road trips, I start getting to bed earlier and also getting up earlier.

For anyone who pays attention- y'all may notice some of my posts are at the BC of dawn.. My work schedule is such that my alarm goes off at 1am (yep, you read that right.. sigh) So even on my days off, I can rarely sleep till 3.. sad but true.

I often read, or do crafty things, or write. After getting the kids out to do what they need to do- of course. Then They go back to sleep.. rotten dogs. lol
