I bought a Chevy Express with a hi-top, and it came with a Honda EV6010 liquid-cooled RV generator already in it. This thing needs some servicing...it's got an oil leak apparently and needs a battery and other stuff. I am going to install solar panels so it would be a backup power source. I'm trying to decide whether to sell it or keep it.
PROS:
It's already there. It's built into the van with an access hatch. Selling it might be a hassle.
CONS:
Apparently it's loud, and it's probably overkill for what I need it for. It takes up a good deal of space too.
I'm thinking I could potentially sell it and if I got an OK price I could use that towards my build, or even a smaller, quieter generator. Since it's already built into the van though I'm not certain if it's worthwhile. And the extra electricity could be useful, say for powering an art installation at Burning Man or something.
What do you guys think? I confess I know very little about generators so advice is appreciated.
