 I still have my original SS card that says right on it, Not to be used for identification.

That went out decades ago. In the Florida education system, the students' SSN is one of the primary forms of ID. Same in the military, the "serial number" was replaced with SSN long ago. For good or ill, the SSN has become our main form of ID in all aspects of life.
