I don't know what the stipulations are for private vehicle insurance, but I've been told by someone who worked in the moving truck rental industry that ripping the top off of a truck is the one major thing that is not covered under their insurance. To repeat, even if you buy their insurance when you rent the truck, it will not cover you damaging the roof. That's comes out of pocket and it's very expensive, often the cost of replacing the entire box period

I just don't understand why this town is not doing anything to prevent this, lol. Are they making money on each accident?
A simple pipe hanging on 11foot8 height before the actual bridge could alert the drivers and not cause so much damage, to both the vehicle and the drivers (and by "before" the bridge I don't mean a couple of inches before the bridge). I am sure that hurts if your vehicle suddenly stops and pulls upward.
