<font class="Apple-style-span" face="Arial"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">Hi, I'm Katie. &nbsp;I stumbled across this site in March, 2010. &nbsp;I had been pondering ways to save money before/after retirement. &nbsp;I'm my happiest when I'm surrounded by nature, and was looking for ways to see all that nature has to offer...on a shoestring. &nbsp;<img border="0" align="absmiddle" src="https://vanlivingforum.com/images/boards/smilies/idea.gif">&nbsp;I googled something about cheap living, and alas, I came across this site. &nbsp;I was hooked. &nbsp;I go hiking every summer, and thought that a van would be a great way to extend my vacations,... since I wouldn't have a hotel/cabin cost. &nbsp;A month later, my school secretary told me that her brother was selling his van. &nbsp;Well, what can I say?! &nbsp;It was meant to be! &nbsp;<img border="0" align="absmiddle" src="https://vanlivingforum.com/images/boards/smilies/smile.gif">&nbsp;I bought the 1995 Chevy conversion van with 60,000 miles. &nbsp;I was ecstatic and flying high! &nbsp;At this time, I've only spent weekends in the van at nearby state parks, and also my driveway, at my neighbor's puzzlement.<img border="0" align="absmiddle" src="https://vanlivingforum.com/images/boards/smilies/confused.gif"></span></font><div><font class="Apple-style-span" face="Arial"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br></span></font></div><div><font class="Apple-style-span" face="Arial"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">I've spent hours exploring this site with delight. &nbsp;So thank you, Bob, for creating it. &nbsp;I'm learning so much from this site, and from the VanDwellers site. &nbsp;I can't wait for summer, when I'll have a couple of months to learn some more first-hand experiences about vandwelling. &nbsp;</span></font></div><div><font class="Apple-style-span" face="Arial"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br></span></font></div><div><font class="Apple-style-span" face="Arial"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">Katie</span></font></div><div><font class="Apple-style-span" face="Arial"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br></span></font></div><div><font class="Apple-style-span" face="Arial"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">How's that for a short introduction?! &nbsp;<img border="0" align="absmiddle" src="https://vanlivingforum.com/images/boards/smilies/wink.gif"></span></font></div><div><font class="Apple-style-span" face="Arial"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">(And yes, I like your smiley emoticons.)</span></font></div>

Hi Katie, like you I love to spend time in nature and have found vandwelling to be the ideal way to do it. I work as a campground host in the National Forests in the summer and live on free BLM desert land in the winter. 365 days a year I wake in nature. My dog and I think we have died and gone to heaven!! Welcome to the group and please ask questions as they come up! Bob<br>

Ahhh! &nbsp;It does, indeed sound heavenly. &nbsp;I've always thought that, after retirement, or in the summer, &nbsp;I'd like to work at a state park as an entrance attendant or as a park interpreter. &nbsp;It would just be peaceful being outside.<div><br></div><div>..And thanks for the welcome,</div><div>Katie</div>

Hi Katie, I live in Ks as well. Glad your on the forum. I have seen a few other full timers around the south central area.&nbsp;
