Hi new i'm new here and love this forum! Trying to talk DH into living this way. We live in Oklahoma and love to go camping. (we are the ones you have seen at the campgrounds in Okla in our way old camper and older model vehicles, not all the new fangled, gotta work 3 jobs to afford stuff!! lol ). We are not retirement age which is one big problem tho. But would have some money to start out with. We do not have kids, family, friends to hold us here. We do have a mortgage to get rid of. (sell). Been reading on here and Bobs book, love them both. Loads of helpful info THANKS!

Hi there good luck to you. Rush as in the band? Then your great off the start.
As for older model cars and campers, I guess most here could be your neighbour and fit right in!
Take care and best of luck.

Thank you for the welcome! And yes the Awesome RUSH band, or as dh and I like to say,The best band in the galaxy!

Welcome to the forum! i think you are well on your way. It's an awesome way of living on even a modest income. It is such a paradigm shift that once you start on your way, you will be amazed at how everything falls into place.

Great to have you hear!

Brad

Thank you for the welcome! I have lived briefly (about 2 months) in a tent years ago. Also lived in a house with no water for 8 months years ago waiting on approval for rural water and installment of water lines. And have most of my life lived frugally! So would not be hard to adjust to it again i dont think. I want to see parts of America im afraid at the current rate of destuction may not be around in 20+ years! And with economy seemingly going south so to speak, im afraid living traditionally will continue to eat all we can earn to live so at retirement will be stuck here and travel wont be an option. So i guess purely selfish reasons!!Some would say.

Pretty good reasons others would say, don't you think!
You seem to have the background and the handle on the situation to do just fine. You just need the right red neck vehicle. In reference to your first post!
Some do stay in tents and such as well as out of the vehicle, personally I can live out of my Van or tent, but if it is pouring rain I doubt that there will be any tent getting set up in it.
And RUSH ROCKS .. thanks from me

welcome!

count me in on Rush.

only band whos lyrics i really pay attention to or concern myself with. maybe a few others like zappa for a good laugh. sonically, most lyrics just become a noise to me. i mostly like the sound music makes.

Rush is very different to me in that i get satisfaction from both.

Entre Nous is a beautiful song. as are many others.

Thank you for the welcome!
Vantrekker- Talk about falling into place! DH says he is willing to see if we can work it all out! And found a small OLDER RV that sounds like our style. (Wild_E) Interesting no one can look at it until Thursday at noon....( this is Saturday, that was only time we would have been able to see it Thursday afternoon) but person selling it had no knowledge of this before they said that was soonest they could show it and we have appointment for it then. WOW weird huh? So excited!!! But cautious. So much dishonesty out there.
To - cygvan , Entre Nous is awesome as is all of RUSH music. Their music is not for head banging its for using your head ie brain lol! we like to say.

Hi blkjak, thanks for the welcome!
Well looked at a couple RVs, bought the one we saw in Arkansas. Was well took care of, all documents, ran good, everything works, or did lol! The fridge worked great first 3 days we used it then started leaking that god awful ammonia!!! Oh well we expected some problems , RV is after all 25 years old! Not sure yet on replacement, same one VERY expensive, thinking of cheaper route. Anyway going ahead with plan to fulltime and work camp with in next 2 years. Hope to see ya all on the road!
Happy Camping

Rushfan;
welcome---RV refrigerators CAN be rebuilt---there is also a (amish replacement) unit---read about but don't know the Details.Saw it on the BOUNDER website (yahoo groups)
good luckwith your RV i have one and a few older travel trailers.im in the process of rebuilding.strip them out replace overhead beame with a slight "arc" so water runs off rather than sitting & leaking.
and just insulate them, decently since most have no real insulation,
sparky1 in southern,Va.
