Just wanted to introduce myself. I love this site. I've been living with way more than I need for some time now. My Grandpa loved to take off and live on the road and I know I inherited that gene. I will have some income to retire on, but not a lot, and I want to have MAXIMUM freedom when I do. I'll probably be asking a ton of questions.

It's great to meet you all.

Welcome aboard, you are making the right decision, for a frugal lifestyle. Do you have any stories handed down from your Grandpa you wish to share with us?

Thanks for the warm welcome.

It's funny. My Grandpa never spoke much about himself or his past. Mostly, we just sat quietly together. I come from a rather LOUD family, so he and I just connected on another level.

One thing I do remember is that he was on one of his road trips when he passed away peacefully, doing what he loved most--traveling and exploring. I hope I'm that lucky.

If you have the gene, you're stuck with it, so make the best of it.

Van.

Chelseagle, welcome to the site where we all wear the same genes.

Rae

For millions of years humans lived with a need to discover what was over the next hill. They had to follow the food, or seasons, or find safety. Their lives depended on it. Somehow the majority of us have lost touch with that ancient instinct. But not all. In this forum, the majority still have that need driving us, compelling us to explore and dream great dreams.

I think that travel comes
from some deep urge to see the world,
like the urge that brings up a worm in an Irish bog
to see the moon when it is full.
                                                  Lord Dunsany

I'd rather be the worm in the bog, entranced by the moon, than a peasant slaving away in the field.
Right on, Bob!!

Welcome, Chealseagle! We're glad to have you here. This groups is full of normal people... Those people who have tons of debt and debris aren't normal - they are transients... We're what was the norm for many centuries...

Sorry to hear about your Grandfather passing but I am glad that he enjoyed himself. I was friends with a man named Paul Brower who had heart trouble. He retired from a high dollar engineering job, bought a cool RV, and passed away before he could use it. At least your Grandfather had the opportunity to really enjoy his life.

It sounds like you are in the right place and will have a very fulfilling life!

Welcome, glad you found us. Good luck in your quest for your freedom!
